    Country Coordinator

    The Country Coordinator will be responsible for the planning, management and oversight of delivery of all project activities at the country level. He / She will provide technical oversite and stakeholder management at the country. The Country Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring country delivery teams and mechanisms are fit for purpose, providing day-to-day solutions to operational challenges and closely tracking project deliverables. The Country Coordinator will serve as a key member of project leadership and will therefore be responsible for team management, project governance, reporting, award management, code of conduct compliance, and risk. The Country Coordinator will also provide technical oversite at a country level and ensure quality of deliverables and overall compliance with GAVI standards, and well as ensure cross-country learnings are collated and disseminated.

    Responsibilities:

    Specific responsibilities of the Country Coordinator Include:

    • Lead strategic and operational planning at the country level, including work planning, capacity building and management of local partners
    • Support the coordination and communication between the project team and Senior Management Team to ensure optimal cooperation and collaboration so that project is supported, integrated, and follows all applicable Crown Agents policies and processes
    • Ensure that the program team and local partners proactively build and maintain technical skills and competencies required for leading and developing first class programmes
    • Support the contract negotiations and onboarding of local partners
    • Mentor and manage staff in a respectful and transparent manner, identify capacity needs and support staff to build their technical and administrative capacities.
    • Responsible for providing technical guidance, technical assistance and mentoring in the delivery of immunization services, DSI; identify learning needs of project staff and troubleshoot technical issues related to project implementation.
    • Support the Team Leader in engaging and collaborating with other development partners operating in the same geographic location and/or operating in the same technical space.
    • Contribute to generate comprehensive, interesting, and accessible progress reports and evaluation reports in collaboration with the Monitoring and Evaluation Lead in line with the program approved plans and manuals.
    • Lead the development and submission of compliant project financial reporting, including ensuring reporting is supported by all required evidence and documentation of output achievements and navigating country, regional and HQ processes for approvals, documentation, submissions and payments;
    • Provide oversight and technical support to implementing partners, and support Team Lead with cross-learning between countries and partnerships across program interventions.

    About you

    This position is open to Country Coordinators in Nigeria, with a preference for national applicants. Recruitment is contingent upon successful award of the project, and selection of final applicant is subject to GAVI approval. The project is anticipated to begin in April 2023.

    Requirements:

    • Advanced degree from an accredited university in public health, global health, social behaviour change, international development, or a related discipline is required.
    • Minimum of ten (10) years of project management experience, including five (5) years in senior management positions, experience with Gavi-funded projects desirable.
    • Demonstrated experience working with the Ministry of Health and other stakeholders in the field of Cash Transfers and Immunisation required
    • Technical expertise in the field of demand side incentives in health and/or routine immunisation programming, preferred
    • Experience working in fragile contexts on health programming, including immunizations, health financing, improving and access to care.
    • Demonstrated ability to oversee planning, coordination, and day to day implementation of technical activities in partnership with the technical team and the team lead.
    • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to develop relations with local counterparts, donors, and other stakeholders.
    • Demonstrated commitment to gender and social inclusion
    • Willingness and ability to travel
    • Fluency in English
