    Compliance Officer

    Role: Compliance Officer

    Department: Compliance

    Direct Reporting Line: Compliance Manager

    Job Purpose: Advising members of the business on compliance matters.

    Researching and understanding changes in legislation, and how they would affect the business.

    Remediating and reviewing KYC files, and obtaining necessary documentation. Being involved in compliance monitoring, audits and risk assessments.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Ensuring all activities undertaken by the business are conducted in a compliant manner and in accordance with our regulators.
    • Updating and communicating all policies, standards of conduct and procedures to the business; and providing training where necessary.
    • Researching and understanding changes in legislation, and how they would affect the business.
    • Assist in the preparation, implementation and update of the AML programme.
    • Remediating and reviewing KYC files, and obtaining necessary documentation.
    • Prepare quarterly compliance report with SEC.
    • File suspicious transaction reports with FIC.
    • Being involved in compliance monitoring, audits and risk assessments.
    • Understanding the compliance and onboarding process in detail.
    • Assisting the Head of Compliance to advice management on the company’s compliance with laws and regulations by our regulators (CBN, SEC, NGX) through detailed reports.
    • Abreast with all the licensing requirements for all financial services in Nigeria.
    • Working together with the Global Clients Desk to aid in the onboarding of clients both locally and internationally.
    • Ensuring all employees are educated on the latest regulations and industry practices and processes.
    • Evaluate business activities (e.g. investments) to assess compliance risk.
    • Collaborate with all stakeholders when needed.
    • Attending and actively participating in team and company meetings.
    • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
    • Meeting and exceeding KPIs as set by your Line Manager.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

    • Good knowledge of legal requirements and procedures.
    • Highly-analytical with strong attention to detail.
    • Familiarity with industry practices and professional standards.
    • Strong decision-making skills in a fast-paced environment.
    • Must have keen interest and understanding of financial markets.
    • Team player with good interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Ability to work in a high-stress environment.
    • Highly self-motivated individual

     

    Essential Attributes:

    • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Fluency in English: spoken and written.
    • Maintain high levels of professionalism.
    • Have a professional knowledge of all Microsoft Office programmes.
    • Should be able to work extra hours and perform all other duties as instructed by Line Manager.
