    Compliance Officer

    Responsibilities

    • Review of all relevant statutory laws and regulations applicable to the Company and ensure compliance with these. Also, ensure that business activities are conducted in conformity with all applicable laws, regulations, internal policies and reprocedures.
    • Develop and review company policies.
    • Advise management on the company’s compliance with laws and regulations through detailed reports.
    • Carry out regular compliance audit on company procedures, practices, products, operations and documents to identify possible weaknesses or risks.
    • Ensure that all regulatory permissions remain current and appropriate for business needs and ensure continual compliance risk assessment of company practices together with the development of internal policies and procedures, compliance training and protocols.
    • Create and manage effective action plans in response to audit discoveries and compliance violations;
    • Ensure all employees are educated on the latest regulations and processes.
    • Resolve employee concerns about legal compliance.
    • Carrying out KYC due diligence and ensuring KYC metrics are adhered to.
    • Ensuring compliance with data protection and privacy standards.
    • Transaction monitoring and reporting.
    • Liaising with relevant regulatory bodies and government agencies.
    • Keep abreast of regulatory developments and industry initiatives and advise management accordingly.
    • Liaise with third parties, together with the company’s management, that wish to understand the company’s control environment, compliance policies and procedures.
    • Participate in Business Process Re-engineering exercises to ensure controls therein.
    • Preparation of compliance documentation with relevant constitutive documents for statutory, legal, regulatory purposes.
    • Negotiation, drafting and implementation of the terms of agreements in all business contracts and agreements and maintenance and review of such Legal Agreements.
    • Responsible for providing legal support in controlling customer complaints to mitigate the risk of litigation.
    • Review all documentation with legal implications for the company prior to signing and implementing.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Law or related field.
    • Minimum of 3 years of proven experience as a compliance officer within the financial industry.
    • Previous experience in Fintech is an added advantage.
    • Good knowledge of legal requirements and procedures.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Highly analytical with strong attention to detail.
    • High degree of professional ethics and integrity.
    • Strong problem-solving skills.
