    Compliance Officer Intern

    PURPOSE (A brief overview of the role)

    • The Compliance Officer Intern will assist in ensuring KongaPay remains compliant with regulatory standards, internal policies, and industry best practices, especially in the areas of AML/CFT. This role is ideal for recent graduates or students currently pursuing a degree in Law, Finance, Economics, or related disciplines with an interest in regulatory compliance, governance, and risk management.

    KEY DUTIES

    • Assist in monitoring daily transactions to identify suspicious or unusual activities related to money laundering or terrorist financing.
    • Support the documentation and reporting of identified suspicious transactions under the guidance of senior compliance officers.
    • Help maintain and update the AML/CFT policies, manuals, and compliance frameworks.
    • Participate in staff awareness campaigns on compliance issues, particularly AML/CFT risk indicators.
    • Work closely with other departments to ensure compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements.
    • Assist in reviewing training materials and supporting the delivery of AML/CFT-related training sessions.
    • Maintain accurate records of compliance activities, including risk assessments, investigation reports, and compliance reviews.
    • Contribute to compliance-related projects or reviews, providing inputs and performing assigned tasks.
    • Collaborate with the Chief Compliance and Risk Officer to identify control gaps and recommend corrective actions.

    KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE /SKILLS

    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
    • Good verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information professionally.
    • Strong sense of integrity, ethics, and accountability.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel and Word).

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Current student or recent graduate with a B.Sc./BA/HND in Law, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, Criminology, or related field.
    • Additional certifications (in progress or completed) such as CAMS, ICA, CFE, or DCP are an advantage.
