Communications Lead at Proten

Description

• Our client is seeking an experienced Communications Lead to drive the organisation’s communications strategy, brand positioning, reputation management, stakeholder messaging, media relations, and digital presence.
• The role will advise senior leadership on strategic messaging and reputational risks while ensuring consistent, high-quality communications across the organisation and its affiliated entities.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the organisation’s communications and brand strategy aligned with business and growth priorities.
• Advise senior leadership on reputation management, positioning, messaging, and crisis communications.
• Own brand standards and ensure consistency across proposals, reports, presentations, digital platforms, and external communications.
• Lead messaging for major partnerships, programme launches, announcements, and sensitive/embargoed communications.
• Oversee newsletters, press releases, thought leadership, impact stories, media materials, and other external content.
• Translate technical programme results and impact data into clear, compelling communicationsfor funders, partners, government, and public audiences.
• Build and manage relationships with media, journalists, donors, funders, partners, and other key stakeholders.
• Lead communications for major launches, events, and high-profile engagements.
• Develop and maintain crisis and reputational risk communication protocols.
• Lead and mentor the communications team, ensuring strong editorial and quality standards.
• Manage communications budgets, vendors, agencies, and other external resources.
• Develop the organisation’s digital and social media strategyand use analytics to improve engagement and visibility.
• Ensure the website and other digital channels accurately reflect the organisation’s brand and strategic priorities.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years' communications experience, including at least 2 years in a senior/leadership role.
• Proven experience developing communications strategy and advising senior leadership on reputation and messaging.
• Strong experience in brand management, media relations, strategic communications, and content development.
• Demonstrated ability to manage confidential and embargoed information with discretion.
• Experience leading, mentoring, or managing a communications team.
• Strong writing, editing, presentation, stakeholder management, and strategic thinking skills.
• Proficiency with tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Mailchimp, and digital analytics platforms.
• Postgraduate qualification or professional certification in communications/PR is an advantage.

Desirable Experience:

• Experience in health, digital health, international development, NGO, or donor-funded environments.
• Experience with donor communications, including Gates Foundation or USAIDrequirements.
• Experience developing and implementing crisis communications protocols.
• Basic videography, photography, or multimedia production skills.
