    Civil Engineering Graduate Trainee

    Job Summary

    • The Civil Engineering Graduate Trainee will support site and office-based engineering activities under the supervision of senior engineers.
    • The role provides hands-on exposure to civil engineering practice, including construction supervision, design interpretation, quality control, and project documentation.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Assist in supervising civil engineering works including earthworks, concrete works, drainage, roads, and structural elements.
    • Support setting-out, leveling, and basic surveying activities under supervision.
    • Assist in interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and Bills of Quantities (BOQs).
    • Monitor workmanship and material usage to ensure compliance with approved drawings and standards.
    • Support implementation of quality control and assurance procedures on site.
    • Assist in enforcing Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards and site safety practices.
    • Report site challenges, defects, and non-conformities to supervising engineers promptly.
    • Maintain daily site records, site diaries, and work progress reports.
    • Assist in preparing basic measurements, reports, and documentation.
    • Support coordination with subcontractors, suppliers, and other project stakeholders as directed.
    • Participate actively in training programs, site briefings, and mentoring sessions.
    • Demonstrate continuous learning and professional growth in civil engineering practice.
    • Perform other related duties assigned by supervising engineers in line with training objectives

    Qualifications & Experience

    • B.Sc. / B.Eng. in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
    • Completion of NYSC (Discharge or Exemption Certificate required).
    • 0–3 years post-NYSC experience in construction or engineering projects is an added advantage.

    Required Skills & Competencies:

    • Basic knowledge of civil engineering construction techniques and materials.
    • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
    • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and MS Office applications.
    • Strong willingness to learn and grow professionally.
    • Good communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
    • Attention to detail, initiative, and problem-solving ability.
    • Ability to work under supervision in a dynamic site environment.
    • High ethical standards and professionalism.
    • Physically fit and willing to work on construction sites.
    • Safety-conscious with a strong commitment to quality.
