    Chief Operating Officer

    Job Summary

    • The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will oversee the design, enhancement, implementation, reporting, and oversight of the Bank’s technology, operations, human resources, business development and compliance functions.
    • The COO will pay a critical role in helping to shape and guide the future growth and development of the Bank.
    • Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and working as a key member of the Bank’s Management team, the COO will take a leadership role in building, implementing, and overseeing all of the Bank’s systems, processes, workflows, and procedures.
    • The COO will develop, refine and implement Operations strategy including aspects such as product design and delivery, client outreach and communications.

    Responsibilities
    Drive Business Performance:

    • Be accountable for the aggregate plan and delivery of systems, operations, properties & maintenance and the general operating model of the Bank.
    • Provide leadership to the diverse teams of associates in driving client acquisition, building healthy loan portfolios and ensuring compliance with KYC and SCUML requirements.
    • Develop architecture for digital sales and marketing.
    • Oversee all business and financial operations, including P&L management, loan origination, disbursement, collections, including the preparation of required periodic reports on disbursement, repayment and loan performance.
    • Build a pipeline to ensure a steady deal flow, based on a data-driven assessment of target sectors.
    • Ensure that business change projects are delivered in line with directions from Executive Management level.
    • Analyze effectiveness of processes and systems in use for the Bank and recommend corrective actions or automation.
    • Benchmark productivity of the department against industry standards and create measures to improve productivity.

    Drive Business Direction:

    • To be an integral part and driver of the strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting and decision-making process.
    • Build strong relationships with key external stakeholders, government, suppliers, etc. to ensure correct focus and direction for the bank at operations and technology level.
    • Develop and implement growth strategies, identify new business opportunities and manage marketing efforts.
    • Ensure an effective and efficient operating model is maintained.
    • Ensure that risk is effectively addressed in all aspects of the business.
    • Ensure that a proper infrastructure (building, systems and staff complement) is maintained and developed for the bank.

    People Management/Leadership:

    • Coordinate with the human resources department to recruit skilled talent and keep the best employees.
    • Mentor and develop staff using supportive and collaborative approach by assigning accountabilities, setting objectives, establishing priorities and monitoring and evaluating results.
    • Establish policies that promote company vision which will encourage a culture of excellence, high performance and continuous improvement.

    Requirements
    To successfully deliver the above goals, the right candidate must have:

    • B.Sc. in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, Finance, Investment Banking or related discipline.
    • M.Sc. / MBA is an added advantage.
    • Strong FinTech and Digital experience is required.
    • Good knowledge of Agile methodology.
    • Minimum of 5 years progressive experience in FinTech and Digital business environments.
    • Understanding of business functions such as Banking Operations, IT, Project Management, Sales, HR, Finance, and Marketing.
    • Result-proven track record of exceeding goals and a bottom-line orientation.
    • Evidence of the ability to consistently make good decisions through a combination of analysis, wisdom, experience, and judgement.
    • Working knowledge of data analysis and performance/operation metrics.
    • Working knowledge of IT/Business infrastructure and MS Office.
    • Outstanding organizational and leadership abilities.
    • Excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills.
    • Aptitude in decision-making and problem-solving.
