As the Chief Mechanic, you will oversee the maintenance, repair, and operational reliability of the company’s vehicles, machinery, and mechanical equipment, ensuring minimal downtime, safety compliance, and efficient fleet and equipment performance.
Responsibilities
Lead the inspection, diagnosis, repair, and preventive maintenance of company vehicles, production equipment, and other mechanical systems
Supervise mechanics and maintenance personnel, allocate tasks, monitor performance, and ensure timely completion of repairs and maintenance activities
Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance schedules to minimize equipment breakdowns and operational downtime
Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance activities, spare parts usage, equipment condition, and maintenance costs
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and operational standards while recommending cost-effective solutions to improve equipment reliability and efficiency
Requirements
Minimum of Trade Test certificate, OND/HND/Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, or a related technical field
Minimum of 7 years’ relevant experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably within an FMCG, manufacturing, or industrial environment
Proven experience supervising mechanics and managing the maintenance of production equipment, heavy-duty vehicles, trucks, and other mechanical systems
Strong knowledge of preventive maintenance, mechanical troubleshooting, diagnostics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and engine systems
Excellent leadership, problem-solving, technical, organizational, and equipment maintenance management skills
