Job Description

• We are looking to fill the role of Business Development Manager, with previous work experience as a Business Development/Marketer in a haulage company.

Job Responsibilities

• Identify market opportunities and present solutions.
• Meet cost, productivity, accuracy, and timeliness targets.
• Sourcing for trucks and the required vehicles the customers need.
• Target new business opportunities and grow an existing customer base.
• Liaise and negotiate with suppliers, manufacturers, retailers, and consumers.
• Build strong working relationships and present solutions to direct end users/customers.
• Undertake regular visits to major clients/customers to verify the attainment of customer satisfaction.
• Develop portfolio plans and ongoing sales strategies to maximize profit and grow sales in new and existing accounts.
• Direct, optimize and coordinate full order cycle.
• Strategically plan and manage logistics and customer services.
• Participate in project meetings and report on progress therein.
• Keep track of quality, quantity, delivery times, transport costs, and efficiency.
• Maintain metrics and analyze data to assess performance and implement improvements.
• Keep records of all activities, documenting procedures, guidelines, and changes in procedures for reference purpose
• Liaise with vehicle owners to create a good working relationship to be able to strike good negotiations for transportation of goods, and to prevent hiccups that may arise
• Give vivid directions and guidelines to drivers about the nature of goods and delivery locations, and maintain communication with them to ensure that goods are not damaged on transit
• Evaluate transportation cost and other expenses and verify that they are not more than the amount charged to clients, to ensure that a positive account balance is left at the end of every transaction

Ideal Background

• Candidates should possess a Master's Degree qualification
• 2+ years in a similar position and ability to work in both a reactive and proactive environment.
• Previous experience within the logistics and haulage industry, with access to trucks or the ability to source for trucks.
• Requires excellent transaction negotiation and closing skills.
• Experience in managing challenging environments and demanding customers.
• A solid reputation for delivering results, hunting new business, and implementing strategic project planning
• A high degree of commercial acumen, i.e., excellent communication skills, ability to learn and work across business development.
