    Brand Storyteller

    About the Brand Storyteller role

    • We're looking for a Senior Brand Storyteller who is, above all, an exceptional writer and a sharp creative thinker. You'll shape and execute Paystack's brand storytelling across launches, campaigns, product announcements, organic content, internal communications, merchant communications, social media, video, events, and PR.
    • This is a senior individual contributor role for someone who enjoys both thinking and making. You'll report directly to the Brand Storytelling Lead and act as their right hand: a creative and strategic partner on the highest-stakes storytelling, and the person who can take a raw idea and turn it into finished, best-in-class copy.
    • You'll write articles, scripts, social posts, newsletters, internal updates, merchant emails, and campaign copy. You'll also help turn important company and product moments into clear, thoughtful stories that build trust with merchants, create pride among Stacks, and help partners, customers, and the broader ecosystem understand Paystack's work.
    • This is a full-time, Lagos based role.

    We’ll trust you to

    • Write exceptional copy across every format: launch announcements, feature articles, campaign lines, video scripts, social, newsletters, executive and internal communications, and website copy. This is the core of the role.
    • Shape the creative and brand strategy behind major moments. You'll develop the messaging, narrative, and creative angle for product launches, company announcements, campaigns, and internal initiatives, not just execute a brief someone else wrote.
    • Bring the thinking. You'll pressure-test ideas, find the sharper story, and raise the creative bar across the team, including work that isn't your own.
    • Lead the storytelling on launches and product announcements end to end, from the core narrative to the copy that ships.
    • Own storytelling projects from idea to execution, working closely with designers, producers, photographers, videographers, marketers, product teams, and external partners.
    • Review writing, video, photography, and design work, and give clear feedback that makes the final output sharper and more useful.
    • Support business-as-usual communications, including merchant emails, lifecycle communications, dashboard announcements, and other recurring updates, building, testing, and sending them through our marketing tools.
    • Help manage Paystack's editorial and organic content calendar, and spot strong storytelling opportunities across the company to turn into useful content for merchants, partners, employees, and the broader ecosystem.
    • Partner with teams across Product, GTM, Customer Experience, Legal, Compliance, People, and Leadership to help communicate their work clearly and consistently.
    • Support PR efforts by helping develop messaging, reviewing press materials, preparing briefing notes, and working with journalists, agency partners, and external stakeholders where needed.

You’ll thrive in this role if you

    • Are an exceptional writer, full stop. You can move comfortably between long-form articles, video scripts, social posts, internal communications, merchant emails, and campaign copy, and your writing is consistently a level above.
    • Are a strong creative and brand strategist. You can find the idea inside a brief, build a narrative around a launch, and explain why one angle is stronger than another.
    • Have strong editorial judgment and can quickly tell when a story, message, or creative idea isn't working yet.
    • Understand how brand storytelling supports business goals, product launches, trust-building, community-building, and company culture.
    • Are comfortable doing senior IC work, not just setting strategy or giving feedback.
    • Can move between high-level thinking and detailed execution without losing quality.
    • Have experience leading complex creative or communications projects with multiple stakeholders.
    • Communicate clearly and can build strong working relationships across teams.
    • Are organized, dependable, and able to manage several projects at once.
    • Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment where feedback, iteration, and attention to detail improve the work.
    • Are curious about technology, startups, payments, business, and the people building companies across Africa.
    • Care deeply about quality and can help others raise their standards without making the work feel heavy.

    Bonus points if you

    • Have experience working in brand storytelling, content marketing, communications, journalism, editorial, PR, or a related field at a high-performing company.
    • Have strong relationships with journalists, creators, partners, or media organizations across multiple African markets.
    • Can shoot or edit video yourself, or have hands-on experience producing or shaping video, audio, photography, documentaries, live streams, webinars, or events.
    • Have experience working with PR agencies or supporting media relations for company announcements.
    • Have worked in fintech, technology, startups, media, or business-focused storytelling.
    • Are comfortable using content management systems, email marketing tools, social publishing tools, and analytics platforms.
    • Have a strong interest in African businesses and the technology infrastructure helping them grow.
