    Automation & Autonomous Systems Engineer

    Job Summary

    • The Automation & Autonomous Systems Engineer is responsible for the design, integration, programming, and validation of robotic and automation systems used within the Advanced Manufacturing Division, specifically for Unmanned programs, Autonomous and related sensor platforms.
    • This position requires the application of multidisciplinary knowledge in mechanical, electrical, and software engineering to develop efficient, reliable, and intelligent autonomous systems.
    • The engineer ensures that all robotic and automation processes conform to design intent, quality standards, and safety requirements while supporting the continuous improvement of manufacturing and testing operations

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Lead the design, integration, and validation of autonomous control systems for Autonomous platforms, encompassing guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) algorithms, sensor fusion, and actuator coordination.
    • Develop and implement ROS2/PX4-based autonomy architectures, integrating LiDAR, radar, IMU, GNSS, and sonar inputs into a unified decision-making and motion-control framework.
    • Prototype and refine robotic subsystems such as dynamic positioning, obstacle avoidance, station-keeping, and auto-docking functionalities, ensuring system reliability in marine operating conditions.
    • Collaborate with Marine Systems and Mechatronics Engineers to synchronize mechanical, electrical, and software interfaces, ensuring full system interoperability and compliance with mission objectives.
    • Develop, test, and maintain digital twin models for autonomous systems to simulate navigation performance, control loop stability, and environmental response.
    • Implement model-based system design (MBSD) and real-time testing environments to validate control algorithms using Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) and Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) setups.
    • Lead system integration activities from bench-level assembly to full-scale prototype deployment, ensuring alignment between physical configurations and control logic.
    • Develop and document control system architectures, wiring schematics, data pipelines, and telemetry protocols for seamless transition to manufacturing and maintenance teams.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree (B.Eng / B.Tech / M.Eng) in Robotics, Automation, Mechatronics, or Control Systems Engineering.
    • 6–7 years experience in robotics, autonomous systems, or automation integration.
    • Proficiency in ROS2, PX4, and embedded programming (Python/C++).
    • Hands-on experience with sensor integration including LiDAR, GNSS, IMU/INS, sonar, and camera systems.
    • Strong understanding of communication networks such as Ethernet, CAN, RS-485, and NMEA 2000.
    • Working knowledge of marine or field-deployed robotic systems preferred.
    • Certifications in ROS Developer, Embedded Systems, or Marine Electrical Safety will be an added advantage.
    • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.
