    About the Firm: Wole Olanipekun & Co. is a leading and highly-reputable law firm consisting of two leading SANs as well as other highly-experienced and foreign-trained lawyers with offices in Lagos and Abuja FCT, Nigeria.

    We are currently seeking extremely intelligent, motivated and vibrant young lawyers willing to build a thriving legal career at Wole Olanipekun & Co.

    Job Description: The Associate will work under a supervisor to carry out the following duties:

    • Participate and take comprehensive notes in client briefing meetings;
    • Participate and make useful contributions in case/transaction strategy meetings and prepare analysis/opinions as required;
    • Carry out thorough legal research under the direction of a supervisor;
    • Draft agreements, processes, contracts and other documentations in relation to matters handled by the firm;
    • Attend meetings, sessions, hearings and/or proceedings (either alone or with a supervisor) in respect of matters handled by the firm;
    • Participate in settlement meetings as may be required or deemed necessary under certain circumstances;
    • Prepare update letters and promptly communicate with clients on the status of their matters;
    • Write articles and newsletters periodically on topics relevant to the practice areas of the firm;
    • Participate in legal events as may be organized by the firm; and
    • Carry out all other duties as may be related to the above scope as assigned by a supervisor including liaising with government agencies, court registrars etc.

    Requirements:

    We are looking for lawyers who possess the following:

    • Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) –Minimum of a Second Class (Upper Division). We will only accept lower classes if you are able to prove extenuating circumstances.
    • BL – Minimum of a Second Class (Lower Division) from the Nigerian Law School. We will only accept lower classes if you are able to prove extenuating circumstances.
    • Masters’ degree is an added advantage.
    • First degree in a field other than law such as English or Psychology is also an added advantage.
    • 3 - 6 years’ experience in a reputable law firm.
    • Strong research, intellectual and analytical skills.
    • Sound command of English language (oral and written) is a requirement and will be tested at the interview stage.
    • Ability to write articles, newsletters and other thought leadership publications.
    • Ability to use Microsoft applications.
    • Ability to identify key legal issues quickly and efficiently.
