Associate Professor (Economics) at Miva Open University

OVERALL FUNCTION

• Miva Open University is seeking a dynamic, innovative, and accomplished individual with a Ph.D. in Economics to join our esteemed faculty as an Associate Professor.
• The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the academic and research excellence of the university while also actively engaging in teaching, mentoring, and service activities.
• As an Associate Professor, you will play a key role in advancing the mission of the university and fostering the intellectual growth of our students.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Teaching:

• Develop and deliver high-quality courses at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels in Economics.
• Implement innovative teaching methods and technologies to enhance the learning experience.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to students, fostering their academic and professional development.

Research:

• Conduct cutting-edge research in Economics and actively contribute to the scholarly community.
• Publish research findings in reputable peer-reviewed journals and present at conferences.
• Collaborate with colleagues and students on research projects, fostering a culture of academic inquiry.

Advising and Mentoring:

• Advise undergraduate students, guiding them in their academic and career goals.
• Supervise graduate students' theses and dissertations.
• Provide mentorship and support to junior faculty members.

Service and Engagement:

• Engage in university and departmental service activities, including committee participation.
• Participate in outreach activities, promoting the university's mission and building community partnerships.
• Contribute to the development and improvement of academic programs and curricula.
• Assist in student recruitment and outreach activities.

Professional Development:

• Stay current with developments in the field and continuously improve teaching and research skills.
• Pursue external funding opportunities to support research endeavors.
• Develop and implement academic strategies and policies in line with industry standards and emerging trends in Economics.
• Collaborate with industry partners and professional Economics organizations to facilitate internships, networking opportunities, and industry collaborations.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

• A Ph.D in the field of Economics from an accredited institution .
• A strong record of scholarly research, including a publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching, with the ability to engage and inspire students.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and contribute to a collegial academic environment.
