    Assistant Production Manager

    Location: No. 1 Akaka Road, Ode Remo, Ogun State, Nigeria

    Job Summary

    We are seeking an experienced and technically competent Assistant Production Manager with strong practical knowledge of engineering and automobile production processes. The successful candidate will support the Production Manager in coordinating manufacturing activities, supervising production teams, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring production targets are achieved efficiently.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Assist the Production Manager in planning and coordinating daily automobile production activities.
    • Supervise production personnel and ensure effective allocation of manpower.
    • Monitor production schedules and ensure targets are achieved within specified timelines.
    • Monitor assembly and manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with approved specifications.
    • Work closely with Engineering, Quality Control, Maintenance, Stores, and Procurement teams.
    • Identify and report production delays, defects, equipment breakdowns, and process inefficiencies.
    • Assist in implementing measures to reduce production downtime, waste, and operational costs.
    • Ensure proper use and maintenance of production machinery, tools, and equipment.
    • Assist in monitoring raw-material usage and production inventory.
    • Ensure production activities comply with HSE requirements and company procedures.
    • Assist with quality inspections and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
    • Prepare daily and periodic production reports for management.
    • Support the training, supervision, and performance evaluation of production staff.
    • Assist in implementing continuous improvement initiatives across production operations.
    • Step in for the Production Manager when required.

    Qualifications & Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 5 years of relevant production/manufacturing experience.
    • Must have at least 3 years of proven hands-on experience in automobile production/manufacturing.
    • Automobile production experience will be a key criterion for shortlisting candidates.
    • Strong practical knowledge of engineering and automobile manufacturing processes is mandatory.
    • Experience supervising production teams in an automobile or manufacturing environment.
    • Good knowledge of vehicle assembly, automotive components, production machinery, tools, and manufacturing processes.
    • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and production documentation.
    • Good understanding of production planning, quality control, process improvement, and preventive maintenance.
    • Strong analytical, organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
    • Good knowledge of workplace safety and HSE requirements.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant production/ERP software.
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet production deadlines.

    Shortlisting Criterion

    • Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years of direct and demonstrable experience in automobile production/manufacturing. This experience will serve as a major yardstick for shortlisting candidates.
