    Assistant Internal Controller / Auditor

    Job Summary

    • The Assistant Internal Controller/Auditor will support the Internal Control Department in ensuring strict compliance with company policies, financial regulations, and statutory requirements. 
    • The role involves assisting in the review, verification, and documentation of financial transactions, as well as monitoring internal processes for accuracy and compliance.
    • The Assistant will also contribute to promoting transparency, accountability, and operational efficiency across all financial and administrative functions within the organization.

    Essential Job Functions

    • Assist in reviewing financial requests, supporting documents, and expense reports to ensure compliance with company policies and tax regulations.
    • Conduct spot checks at sites, stores, and offices to verify purchases, deliveries, and the appropriate use of company assets.
    • Review monthly expenses and documentation, and upload all approved expenses and tax deductions to the company’s finance drive.
    • Review and approve petty cash requests, and conduct monthly reconciliations.
    • Assist in implementing and monitoring internal control procedures to prevent fraud and ensure operational efficiency.
    • Participate in periodic internal audits and control reviews to identify risks, weaknesses, and irregularities.
    • Support the preparation of internal audit reports and follow up on agreed corrective actions.
    • Maintain organized records of control activities, findings, and audit documentation.
    • Collaborate with finance and other departments to ensure timely resolution of control or audit issues.

    Qualifications and Requirements

    • HND or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Internal Control or Audit functions.
    • Strong knowledge of Nigerian financial laws and regulations.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and accounting software.
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Excellent analytical, investigative, and problem-solving abilities.
    • High attention to detail with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
    • Applicants must reside in Warri.
