    Area Manager (Retail Operations Manager)

    • Our client, a retail firm with rapidly growing hard-discount retail outlets in the various neighbourhoods of Lagos,is seeking an Area Manager ( Retail Operations Manager) who will oversee the day-to-day operations and management of retail stores. 
    • The Area Manager ( Retail operations manager will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to improve sales, profitability, customer satisfaction,supervising store managers, maintaining inventory levels, and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.

    Responsibilities

    • Visiting  each store at least twice a week to check the cash balance (including the safe) and drawing up a shop visiting report (store check) at least once a week.
    • Visit new stores on a daily basis in order to check on them and help the store manager with the daily procedures.
    • Optimize and oversee operations to ensure efficiency .
    • Deal with problems by providing creative and practical solutions .
    • Ensure successful solutions to customer and vendor complaints, along with effective grievance solutions, are implemented.
    • Drive sales performance within the area or district.
    • Undertake sound financial management to ensure stores are profitable and stay within budget
    • Lead a team of store managers towards effective collaboration and attainment of goals
    • Decide on the number of personnel and control the working hours of the personnel at each store.
    • Ensure that proper orientation and training occur for all retail staff and verify standards are understood and adhered to
    • Evaluate performance using key metrics and address issues to improve it
    • Ensure compliance with the company’s policies and operational guidelines
    • Establish training programs for staff members to improve sales outcomes
    • Actively develop and promote open lines of communication to maintain and develop positive employee relations, encourage employee involvement in the process, and recognize employees for their accomplishments and ideas.

    Qualifications and Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, or management-related courses .
    • Minimum 7 years of work experience in an FMCG, retail, or financial institution .
    • 2 to 3 years of  experience as an operation manager in the retail outlet .
    • Prior experience in management and supervisory roles, sales, marketing, or customer service
    • A good understanding of performance evaluation metrics
    • Experience working in a highly collaborative environment where teamwork and self-motivation were critical
    • Organized and analytical, able to eliminate obstacles through creative and adaptive approaches.
    • Ability to manage a team relationship and a productive work environment
    • Adept at mathematics and finance; able to balance budgets
    • Strong time management skills and the ability to multitask effectively
