Application Support Engineer at Gamma Mobility

POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking a highly analytical and technically skilled Application Support Engineer to support, troubleshoot, and improve business-critical applications and backend systems. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience debugging Golang applications, investigating production issues, identifying root causes, validating data integrity with SQL, and collaborating with engineering and product teams to resolve customer-impacting issues efficiently.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve application-related issues across backend services, APIs, databases, and frontend integrations.
• Debug and analyze Golang-based applications to identify defects, performance bottlenecks, and operational issues.
• Replicate reported issues in development or staging environments and document detailed reproduction steps.
• Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for incidents and provide clear technical reports and remediation recommendations.
• Write and execute SQL queries to validate data, investigate inconsistencies, correct anomalies, and support operational reporting.
• Collaborate with frontend and backend engineering teams to identify integration issues and implement fixes where necessary.
• Analyze logs, traces, metrics, and API responses to diagnose application behavior and failures.
• Develop and maintain internal troubleshooting guides, operational runbooks, and support documentation.
• Monitor production systems and proactively identify issues before they impact users.
• Participate in incident management, escalation handling, and post-incident reviews.
• Support deployment verification and perform regression validation after fixes are released.
• Assist in improving system reliability, observability, and operational tooling

REQUIREMENTS:

• Strong experience working with Golang applications in production environments.
• Solid understanding of debugging techniques, logging, and performance troubleshooting.
• Experience replicating issues and performing detailed root cause analysis.
• Strong SQL skills with the ability to write complex queries for investigation, validation, and data correction.
• Experience working with relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
• Understanding of REST APIs, JSON payloads, HTTP requests/responses, and service integrations.
• Experience interacting with frontend applications to trace user flows and identify integration or UI-related issues.
• Ability to read, understand, and modify application code when required to resolve issues.
• Familiarity with Linux environments, containerized applications, and cloud infrastructure is an advantage.
• Experience using monitoring and logging tools such as Grafana, Kibana, Datadog, Sentry, or similar platforms.
• Excellent documentation and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting distributed or microservice-based systems.
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, or AWS environments.
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes.
• Experience handling financial, payment, or transactional systems is a plus
