    Application Scientist (Dairy)

    Overview of the Position

    • This role involves providing technical expertise and support to ofi’s dairy business in Nigeria.
    • The role is required to drive product marketing and development, conduct experiments, analyze data, and provide insights on ingredient functionality, formulation optimization, and sensory evaluation.
    • The Application Scientist will be expected to optimize our processes and conduct market and industry research to enable us identify customer preferences, emerging technologies, and competitive landscapes.

    Responsibilities

    • Liaising with MY/SG dairy Innovation teams for Nigerian market requirements.
    • Sampling of existing/new products to customers.
    • Demonstrating the dairy products in final application and assisting the sales team on technical queries / facilitating technical discussions.
    • Managing an application lab, conducting testing and analysis of products in the specific category.
    • Carrying out experiments and deriving appropriate conclusions based on end-use-application and sensory evaluation.
    • Comparing product and process, calculating overall cost-in-use and nutritional values.
    • Utilizing technical understanding of ingredients and troubleshooting skills to solve application problems.

    Skills and Requirements

    • Minimum of a Degree in any Science discipline preferably Food Science & Technology or relevant field with 3 - 5 years of working experience in the field of dairy, dairy-related products (yoghurt, process cheese, dairy beverages & etc.), exposure to different dairy ingredients and plant experience.
    • Good knowledge of various dairy products (yoghurt, drinking yoghurt, milk and all dairy-based beverages (RTD, Instant Mixes, etc).
    • Basic understanding offood safety, food regulation, quality and EHS.
    • Good understanding of various unit operations in food processing and ability to run and maintain various equipment at bench top and pilot level will be added advantage.
    • Good organization skills for dealing with diverse research & development duties and staffs.
    • Good command in oral and written English.
    • Fast learner and able to work independently with minimum supervision.
    • Reliable, proactive, and highly initiative.
    • Computer literacy with good knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications.
