Accountant at The Paper Packaging Company

Role Description 

• The Accountant will manage day-to-day financial operations, including recording transactions, preparing journal entries, and maintaining accurate general ledger accounts. Responsibilities include preparing financial statements and reports, tracking accounts payable and receivable, reconciling bank statements, and supporting budgeting and forecasting activities. The role will also involve monitoring compliance with accounting standards, assisting with audits, and generating timely financial analyses to support management decisions. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Abuja, requiring regular collaboration with internal stakeholders such as operations, procurement, and management to ensure sound financial practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage cost and production accounting across all inventory types (raw materials, WIP, finished goods)
• Prepare management accounts, variance analysis, and profitability reports by product/client
• Maintain accurate double-entry books with disciplined month-end close
• Handle full AR/AP cycle, vendor reconciliation, and payment terms
• Monitor and forecast cash flow
• Prepare and manage budgets across departments
• Ensure tax compliance and statutory filings
• Enforce tight internal controls across all accounting processes
• Lead and grow the accounts function as the team scales
• Communicate financial insights clearly to non-finance stakeholders
