    Accountant

    Job Summary

    • The accountant will be responsible for managing financial transactions, preparing financial statements, analyzing data, and ensuring compliance with local tax laws and regulations.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including general ledger entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements.
    • Perform monthend and yearend closing activities, including journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
    • Conduct regular financial analysis, monitor variances, and report on financial performance to management.
    • Ensure compliance with Nigerian accounting standards and tax regulations.
    • Prepare and submit tax returns, including VAT, PAYE, and other relevant taxes, within the specified deadlines.
    • Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, and monitor budgetary performance.
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to streamline financial processes and improve efficiency.
    • Support external audits and ensure timely and accurate provision of requested information.
    • Participate in the development and implementation of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
    • Stay updated with changes in accounting regulations and industry best practices.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
    • Professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, ICAN, or similar is preferred.
    • 3 to 5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a corporate or financial services setting.
    • Solid knowledge of Nigerian accounting standards and tax regulations.
    • Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel.
    • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
    • Integrity and adherence to ethical accounting practices.
