Accountant at OPay

Summary:

OPay is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, and will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.

Responsibilities:

• Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.  
• Prepare and reconcile financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.  
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Perform financial analysis and reporting to support management decision-making.
• Ensure compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations.
• Assist with audits and internal control assessments.
• Maintain accurate and organized financial records.
• Support the Finance Manager with ad-hoc tasks and projects.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices (IFRS preferred).
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.  
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.  
• Professional accounting certification (e.g., ACCA, ICAN) is a plus.
