    Accountant

    About the Role

    • The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment, strong knowledge of cost accounting, and the ability to support production-driven financial decisions.

    Job Description

    • Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports for accuracy and compliance with regulations.
    • Manage cost accounting functions, including product costing, raw material valuation, and production overhead allocation.
    • Monitor inventory accounting, stock reconciliation, and coordinate with the production/warehouse team on stock movement records.
    • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, budgets, and variance analyses.
    • Handle accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely invoicing, payments, and collections.
    • Conduct bank reconciliations and manage cash flow monitoring.
    • Ensure compliance with tax regulations (VAT, PAYE, WHT, company income tax) and liaise with relevant regulatory bodies (FIRS, State IRS).
    • Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation and analysis.
    • Analyze production costs and recommend cost-control measures to improve profitability.
    • Maintain and improve internal financial controls and accounting processes.
    • Assist management with financial forecasting and strategic planning.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
    • 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience, with proven experience in a manufacturing or FMCG environment (beverage industry experience is an added advantage).
    • Professional certification (ICAN, ACCA, or equivalent) is required or in view.
    • Strong knowledge of cost accounting, inventory management, and standard costing methods.
    • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, SAP, or similar ERP systems) and advanced Excel skills.
    • Sound understanding of Nigerian tax laws and statutory compliance requirements.
    • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
    • High level of accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail.
    • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with production, sales, and procurement teams.
