Purpose of Role:

The Accountant will play a vital role in conducting financial operations, ensuring accurate record-keeping, and maintaining compliance with financial policies and regulations. This role is crucial in managing accounts payable and receivable, assisting in budget monitoring, and contributing to financial reporting, ultimately supporting the financial health and efficiency of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for the organization and clients.
• Assist in preparing financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
• Prepare financial statements, reports, and reconciliations.
• Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, company policies, and regulations.
• Process invoices, payments, and transactions with proper documentation.
• Track accounts receivable, follow up on outstanding balances, and assist in credit control.
• Reconcile vendor, customer, and client accounts to ensure accuracy.
• Prepare quarterly VAT returns schedule.
• Request and follow up on required data from clients, ensuring timely submission.
• Respond promptly to client queries and provide professional support.
• Monitor cash flow and payment schedules.
• Support budget preparation and track expenditures against approved budgets.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and provide reports on budget performance.
• Ensure adherence to financial policies, internal controls, and regulatory standards.
• Assist in preparing audit documents and liaise with auditors.
• Work with the Infrastructure Officer to maintain financial software and systems.
• Implement IT security measures for financial data protection.
• Contribute to process and system improvements for greater efficiency.

The Ideal Candidate:

• Strong knowledge of accounting concepts, financial reporting, and compliance.
• Detail-oriented, analytical, and highly organized.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets and financial management software like Sage, Quickbooks.
• Strong problem-solving, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, collaboratively, and in a client-facing capacity.

Qualifications:

• HND/Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5–7 years of relevant experience in financial operations for applicants.
• Professional certification (e.g., ACA, CPA) or progress toward certification is an advantage.
• Excellent spoken and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of at least one accounting software.
• Strong knowledge of financial regulations and accounting principles.
