    Accountant

    About the Role

    • We are seeking a competent, detail-oriented, and results-driven Accountant to join our Consulting Associate Team.
    • The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting financial reporting, monitoring transactions, and ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards and internal controls.
    • The ideal candidate should have strong numerical and analytical skills, a high level of integrity, good attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with other departments.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records and financial transactions.
    • Prepare and review journals, ledgers, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
    • Prepare periodic financial reports, management reports, and relevant financial statements.
    • Perform bank, cash, supplier, customer, and general ledger reconciliations.
    • Monitor accounts payable and receivable and ensure timely processing of transactions.
    • Support the preparation and monitoring of budgets, forecasts, and financial plans.
    • Review invoices, payment requests, expenses, and other financial documentation for accuracy and completeness.
    • Monitor cash flow and support effective working capital management.
    • Assist with payroll-related accounting activities and statutory deductions where applicable.
    • Ensure proper documentation and filing of accounting records for audit and compliance purposes.
    • Support internal and external audit processes by providing required schedules, documents, and explanations.
    • Monitor financial controls and identify discrepancies, irregularities, or potential risks.
    • Investigate accounting variances and resolve discrepancies promptly.
    • Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax requirements, company policies, and regulatory obligations.
    • Provide financial information and analysis to support management decision-making.
    • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, reporting, and efficiency.
    • Perform other accounting and financial duties as may be assigned.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
    • 2–5 years of relevant accounting experience, depending on level of responsibility.
    • Professional qualification or ongoing membership of ICAN, ACCA, or another recognized accounting body is an advantage.
    • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, reconciliations, and internal controls.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP software.
    • Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Good written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
    • High level of integrity, confidentiality, accountability, and professionalism.
    • Ability to work independently and effectively within a team.
