    Accountant

    Job Description

    • The Accountant is responsible for managing the company’s financial transactions, encompassing both Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions.
    • This includes ensuring accurate and timely billing, receipting, reconciliation, vendor and customer account management, and compliance with financial and statutory obligations.
    • The role supports effective cash flow planning, credit control, vendor relations, and sound financial reporting.
    • The Accountant ensures adherence to internal control policies, optimizes working capital, and maintains accurate financial records in support of decision-making and audit readiness.

    Responsibilities

    • Manage accounts payable and receivable, including ledgers, postings, reconciliations, and month/quarter/year-end close
    • Oversee internal approvals, audit trails, and bank reconciliations for all inflows and payments
    • Prepare, issue, and reconcile invoices, statements, credit notes, and customer deposits accurately and on time
    • Monitor cashflow forecasting, budgeting, and projections for inflows and outflows; report variances to management
    • Manage supplier/vendor payments, invoices, vouchers, petty cash, and compliance with agreed payment terms
    • Oversee debt collection, customer credit limits, risk profiles, and escalation of AR issues to management
    • Ensure accurate tax deductions, charges, and statutory filings (VAT, WHT, PAYE, NSITF, ITF, etc.)
    • Maintain accurate financial records and reports (daily to quarterly) for customers, vendors, and management
    • Liaise with external accountants and auditors for audits and financial reporting.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance
    • Professional certification is an advantage
    • Proven experience managing Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
    • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Zoho Books, Sage, QuickBooks) and MS Excel
    • High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
