    AC Technician (Abeokuta)

    The AC Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing air conditioning, ventilation, and refrigeration systems across the facility, ensuring optimal environmental conditions for production, storage, and employee comfort while maintaining compliance with safety and operational standards.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Preventive & Corrective Maintenance:

    • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on air conditioning, refrigeration, and ventilation systems.
    • Diagnose and repair faults in HVAC systems, including compressors, condensers, evaporators, thermostats, motors, fans, and control systems.
    • Conduct regular inspections of cooling systems to identify wear, leaks, or potential breakdown risks.
    • Replace defective components such as capacitors, relays, filters, belts, sensors, and refrigerant lines.
    • Clean and service AC units, ducts, coils, and filters to maintain operational efficiency.

     Installation & System Upgrades

    •  Install new air conditioning and ventilation systems as required across offices, production areas, and storage facilities.
    •  Assist in system upgrades, retrofits, and replacement projects to improve cooling efficiency and energy performance.
    •  Ensure installations comply with manufacturer specifications and operational safety standards.
    •  Support commissioning and testing of newly installed systems.

     Operational Support & Troubleshooting:

    • Respond promptly to breakdowns affecting temperature-sensitive production or storage operations.
    • Troubleshoot temperature control issues and implement corrective actions.
    • Monitor cooling system performance to ensure consistent operation.
    • Provide technical support to facility users on the proper operation of AC systems.

     Refrigerant & Spare Parts Management

    •  Monitor refrigerant levels and ensure proper handling, recovery, and disposal in line with environmental regulations.
    •  Track spare parts inventory for HVAC maintenance and raise timely requisitions.
    •  Maintain accurate records of parts usage and maintenance activities.
    •  Conduct periodic audits of system components to prevent unexpected failures.

     Compliance, Safety & Documentation:

    • Ensure compliance with HVAC safety standards and company safety procedures.
    • Adhere strictly to Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) procedures and PPE requirements.
    • Maintain detailed maintenance logs, service reports, and equipment history records.
    • Ensure all work complies with regulatory and environmental standards.
    • Participate in safety drills, inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives.

     Energy Efficiency & System Optimization

    • Monitor system efficiency and recommend improvements to reduce energy consumption.
    • Identify opportunities for preventive adjustments to enhance cooling performance.
    • Support initiatives aimed at improving facility environmental control systems.

    Educational Qualifications, Experience & Requirements

    • HND/BSc in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Technology, or related field.
    • 3–5 years of hands-on experience in HVAC maintenance within manufacturing, industrial, or commercial environments.
    • Strong knowledge of AC systems, refrigeration cycles, ventilation systems, and temperature control systems.
    • Experience troubleshooting compressors, chillers, split units, package units, and cold room systems.
    • Ability to read and interpret HVAC schematics and technical manuals.
    • Experience using maintenance management systems for repair logging and scheduling.
    • Knowledge of refrigerant handling procedures and environmental compliance standards.
    • Strong understanding of workplace safety procedures.
    • Ability to work independently and respond effectively under pressure.
    • Willingness to work shifts and attend to emergency maintenance outside regular working hours.
