    GBV Case Workers

    Reports to GBV Officer
    Purpose: Plan International Nigeria is seeking mid-level and senior-level candidates with a bachelor’s degree or higher and a minimum of three years of experience working on humanitarian projects funded by bilateral donors or in the civil society sector for the implementation of a GFF  funded project ‘‘Providing essential aid services in the areas of protection and livelihoods for children, adolescents and young adults, especially young women and their children, affected by the conflict in
    Lake Chad Basin (LCB) in Nigeria, Niger and Cameroon’’. Positions include: GBV Case Worker, Nurse and Nutritionist. These
    positions are key in the GFFO funded project, ensuring the provision of comprehensive and appropriate Education/Livelihood services to our target groups, Case Management support services to vulnerable women and girls, including survivors of gender based violence (GBV), in emergency contexts, and provision of health and hygiene information in operational sites of Adamawa and Borno States.

    Case Worker, Nurse, Nutritionist (3 Months renewable based on availability of funding and satisfactory performance)

    Dimensions of Role

    • Communicates within Plan International Nigeria and with partners and related government institutions at the community and LGA level. The post holders will directly interact with communities and provide support towards the implementation of the GBV
    • and SRH activities interfacing with other programme team members. The post holders will also contribute towards the capacity building of community volunteers and community based protection mechanisms.

    Key End Results and typical Responsibilities

    General duties and responsibilities:

    In collaboration with the other members of the GFFO funded GBV project, the above category of staff will be responsible for the following:

    GBV Case Worker

    • The GBV Case Worker will be responsible to provide the day-to- day Management of all GBV cases and including the identification, documentation, developing case plans and follow up.
    • GBV Case Worker will liaise directly with other service providers working within
    • the LGA and communities where the project is implemented and facilitate referrals to other service providers (health including Mental health, Shelter, NFIs and /or legal providers, etc.)
    • Ensures that Survivor Centred Approach Guiding principles maintained and enforced in while working with survivors including in safe spaces for women and girls.
    • Facilitate the setting up of information desk at the women and girls center where adolescent and women of reproductive age can access Sexual Reproductive Health information.
    • Contribute within the women and girls center to the identification of at risk girls, boys and women and ensure proper documentation
    • Support GBV at risk individuals or survivors by referring them when necessary
    • and in respect of their consent to other service providers (Health, legal counselling, shelter, livelihoods or mental health etc.)
    • Provide direct support and care for vulnerable women and girls (including
    • survivors of gender-based violence) including basic information counselling and
    • case management: Assessment of survivor needs, developing an action plan, implementing the pan, follow up and case closure processes in line with the GBV case management standard operating procedure and IASC guidelines on case management (SOP).
    • Provide direct age appropriate support and care to vulnerable adolescent and young women (including survivors of GBV) that includes counselling and case management for under 18 years’ survivors in line with case management: Best Interest Determination (BID), age appropriate engagement and decision making by survivor
    • Ensure Do No Harm analysis are carried out and the principle of Do No Harm is observed and upheld in all the engagements of the Case Worker

    Physical Environment and Demands
    Based in Mubi, Adamawa state with extensive travels to lead and supervise project activities for selected communities in Askira Uba, Madagali, Michika, Hong, Mubi South and Mubi North.

    Level of Contact with Children:
    High contact- the job responsibilities of this position require the post holder to have very frequent contact with children. It is expected that children shall be protected at all times.
