    Organizational Development Director

    Overall Responsibilities

    The Organizational Development Director provides focused, high-quality institutional capacity building assistance for an anticipated $32.5 million, five-year grants program in selected states in Nigeria designed to improve the well-being of OVC and their caregivers. The anticipated emphasis of the project is to 1-strengthen institutional and technical capacity of State and Local Governments (LGAs) to provide, manage, and monitor integrated comprehensive care to OVC and their families; 2-strengthen organizational and technical capacity of civil societies to manage OVC programs; 3-increase caregivers’ access to Household Economic Strengthening (HES) Resources; and 4-increase OVC household access to nutrition and food security services.

    This position will be based in Kaduna.

    Specific Responsibilities

    The Organizational Development Director evaluates, designs, and implements host country governments' and local civil society/community organizations' institutional capacity building strategies and activities, resulting in increased effectiveness of the Project’s grantees' programs and services to their clients. The Director works with grantees to develop systems and streamline processes to help them efficiently manage their operations, designing and closely monitoring the implementation of organizational capacity building initiatives.  These operations and processes may include human resource management (including human capacity development and leadership development); financial and other management systems; strategic planning and resource allocation; monitoring and evaluation; and service delivery.

    The Organizational Development Director participates in national-level capacity building and systems strengthening initiatives intended to promote local ownership and contribute to the sustainability of HIV and OVC programming.  The Director supervises the OD Unit as well as short- and long-term technical assistance.

    Qualifications

    1. Master’s degree in public health, international development, public policy, public administration, management, human resource development or a related discipline. Preference given to candidates with experience working with organizations delivering services to OVC and/or in HIV/AIDS prevention.

    2. A minimum of 6 years senior-level experience providing organzational development and institutional capacity building in several of the following areas: human resource management (including human capacity development and leadership development); financial and other management systems; strategic planning and resource allocation; monitoring and evaluation; and service delivery.

    3. Demonstrated competence in assessing priorities and in managing a variety of activities in a time-sensitive environment, and in meeting deadlines with attention to detail and quality.

    4. Strategic thinker with people skills and managerial, coordination, and organizational skills.

    5. Ability to work as a member of a team, and to contribute to developing a new project in a dynamic environment.

    6. Proven programmatic, technical, and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with professional colleagues in a broad range of local public institutions and NGOs.

    7. Demonstrated computer skills in MS Office Suite applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

    8. Fluency in English (including speaking, writing, and reading).

    9. Willingness to travel extensively within project area.

    International relocation and post allowances are not available for this position.
