    Revenue Agent

    Job Description

    • Revenue Agents are field operatives that interact directly with the informal sector taxpayers.
    • They are directly responsible for tax collection within their assigned catchment area.
    • They will be paid a base salary and receive a commission based on the total amount collected monthly.
    • Each Revenue Agent is considered an important element of the grassroots approach to collection in the informal sector.

    Specific Tasks
    Specific tasks are divided into the following categories and include:

    • Collect taxes within assigned area at the expected levels/targets.
    • Help to conduct surveys, studies, and focus groups to determine how effective existing tax-specific products, services, and communications are to payment and collection;
    • Interview taxpayers and their representatives, usually at the taxpayer's place of business or residence, obtaining and analyzing financial information to determine the taxpayer's ability to pay the tax bill and collecting due;
    • Key all assets and Maintain and monitor all assets of the regional office and those utilized on the field by the Revenue Agents;
    • With the field information, assist Directors, Executive Chairperson and other MDAs to in revenue projects and investment activities that will directly impact the informal sector.

    Education

    • At least HND

    Professional Experience:

    • 0 - 2 years tax collection
    • Clear experience of community involvement and knowledge about the region and informal sector commercial players therein.
    • Demonstrable proficiency in developing strategic relationships with trade unions/associations, and the community.

    Required Skills:

    • Ability to take and follow instructions well.
    • Ability write, read and understand English well.
    • Fluency in local language of area posted.
    • Excellent interpersonal and intercultural skills.
    • Proven ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines consistently.

    Personal Attributes:

    • High ethical standards.
    • Personal credibility and integrity.
    • Self-confidence and respect for others.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills, with ability to communicate and interact effectively.

    Remuneration
    Successful candidate will enjoy attractive compensation packages commensurate with the role. This role also attracts performance based bonuses.
