    Head of Quality Control & Assurance [Education]

    The Head of Quality Control & Assurance will lead on the development and management of school’s quality assurance; enhancement policies and ensuring high standards of response and service to internal and external stakeholders.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Advice and support senior managers in the delivery of the institution’s strategic commitment to maintaining the quality and standards of educational provision
    • Manage quality assurance systems, provision of data and data returns, reports, performance indicators, and the annual quality cycle.
    • To train, advise and offer guidance on academic regulations, quality assurance and enhancement policy, procedures and processes to staff as necessary, recommend and manage updates.
    • To work with Heads of Schools and Services to facilitate and maximize engagement with the quality assurance and enhancement process, and support the development of policy and approaches to enhancement, with particular attention to any arising staff development needs.
    • To manage the staff development and training needs as relevant to Quality Assurance and Enhancement
    • To chair and participate in working groups, committees, validation and review events as required
    • To lead, develop, and to take responsibility for the planning, preparation and coordination of the processes related to external review and Audit, and act as the school's main institutional and review facilitator.
    • Act as principal institutional source of advice and guidance concerning academic regulations, quality assurance and enhancement policy, procedures, and processes, and recommend and manage updates.
    • Oversee the administration and organisation of collaborative provision including advising and monitoring the agreements on institutional contracts.
    • Assist the Registrar with the preparation and introduction of changes to institutional regulatory policies in relation to quality assurance requirements, strategy or policy that arise from national and international legislation and which enable the Institution to demonstrate and audit quality and standards.

    SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

    The prospect must demonstrate:

    • Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
    • Ability to organise projects
    • Ability to communicate complex information in an effective, concise and tactful manner, both orally and in writing
    • Experience of writing substantial reports
    • Ability to analyse national policy developments and communicating about them within an organisation
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • A minimum of Postgraduate degree in a relevant field.
    • A minimum of 4 years Quality Assurance / Quality Control experience in an education establishment
    • Relevant postgraduate qualification and/or membership of a relevant professional body
    • The ability to take a leading role in the maintenance and development of academic quality and standards across the Institution.
    • Substantial specialist knowledge and experience of regulations relating to academic administration and quality
    • Experience of managing internal and external audits, and implementation of Quality Code and other QAA guidance and policy.
    • Ability to build and maintain constructive relationships with a range of colleagues in different areas within an organisation
    • The ability to prevent and/or solve problems with flexibility, timeliness and imagination
    • Ability to provide a high level of support for academic committees
    • Ability to manage budgets and allocate resources to meet priorities
    • Strong IT skills
    • The ability to develop a network of contacts in other institutions and/or organisations as a basis for identifying points of comparison and good practice elsewhere
