    Project Officer

    Position Purpose
    The State Project Officer (SMGL) is responsible for the implementation of all service-related project activities within their assigned catchment LGAs and in ensuring the project achieves high quality results.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Coordinates all SMGL-related project activities in the catchment LGAs including but not limited to:  , work scheduling, planning and supervising trainings, supportive supervision and mentoring of health care workers in project supported health facilities
    • Develops and maintain effective project implementation relationships with key personnel at state, LGA and health facility level
    • Carefully monitors the continuous availability of supplies essential for effective project implementation and take actions required to ensure uninterrupted supply
    • Assists the M&E officers to ensure that routine data is appropriately recorded at all levels of the project, especially at the project facilities and other service outlets
    • Ensures effective advocacy with relevant state local government organs, and with community structures in the catchment LGAs
    • Ensures the planning and conduct of effective community mobilization and sensitization activities
    • Provides continuous technical assistance and supportive supervision to facility and community providers in the areas of service delivery, M&E and other project activities.
    • Performs any other duties as required by the SPM, PD and Country Representative

    Basic Requirements

    • A medical doctor or qualified nurse/midwife with a minimum  of 6 years relevant experience in reproductive health and community based programs to deliver health services, and good knowledge on primary health care, maternal and newborn/child survival, child spacing and STD/AIDS programs
    • Good advocacy and people skills and experience in community mobilization and service delivery
    • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to work with various constituencies’ especially relevant government partners, USAID/PEPFAR, and other implementing partners.
    • Good oral and /written communication skills and ability to effectively communicate technical material to both expert and lay audiences.
    • Mature, responsible and able to meet deadlines under pressure and work with minimal supervision
    • Strong interest in community/health care provider capability building
    • Fluency in both written and spoken English in addition to one local language required.
