    Livelihood Coordinator

    Qualification: BA/BSc/HND 

    Experience: 3-4 years

    Contract length: 9 months

    Location: Mafa, Damboa and Konduga

    Available Position: 3

    Reporting to: Project Manager

    Role Purpose:

    The main purpose of Livelihood Coordinator is to contribute to WFP/DHCBI Resilience program in Borno state, by specifically supporting the effective implementation of DHCBI Livelihood response in Mafa, Damboa and Konduga Local Government Areas of Borno state

    Key Outcomes:

    In collaboration with Project Manager, Livelihood Coordinator will be responsible for the following:

    • Coordinate Communal and Individual activities
    • coordinate Cash for Work program within the project;
    • coordinate agriculture/infrastructure/aquaculture and Income Generating Activities within the project;
    • coordinate vocational trainings within the project;
    • Weekly and monthly reporting to the PM and donor

    Livelihood Coordinator duties:

    • Participation in preparation of project work plans, designs and implement them within the project timeframe.
    • Work with relevant Government Ministries, local authorities and other stakeholders to ensure complementarity and coordination.
    • Draft weekly activities plan for each week
    • Support in managing relationship with communities and other local stakeholders.
    • Conducting market and skill assessments in the target areas.
    • Developing context specific livelihoods strategies including Cash for Work activities, agriculture livelihoods and vocational trainings.
    • Coordination, implementation and supervision of livelihood activities within the project.
    • Establish clear beneficiary's follow-up mechanisms and ensures that it is updated.
    • Training of community based structures related to LVH.
    • Ensure project implementation is on time, target and budget, using effective M&E systems to reach desired impacts.
    • Participate in workshop and meetings and provide technical support
    • Provide close supervision and monitoring to the implementation of IGA project related activities in the field
    • Regular monitoring of beneficiaries Individual business and on spot guidance for improvement in the business.
    • Ensure distribution plans are developed timely and carried out distributions according to the plan.
    • Support regular field visits to monitor progress and quality of activities and provide timely feedback and necessary support to DHCBI staff.

    Staff Management:

    • Directly supervise the IGA Officer and other filed staff including experts and providing ongoing leadership to the team and oversee implementation and coordination of activity plans to ensure targets are met.
    • Support work plan development and reporting to ensure accurate monitoring and documentation of activities.
    • Ensure project staff understands and follows DCHBI and donor Policies and Procedures.

    Coordination:

    • With Logistic team to timely receive project materials and NFIs.
    • Assist the Program Manager closely with finance department to ensure program vendors payment and training cost.

    Monitoring & Evaluation and reporting:

    • Support regular field visits to ensure quality and timeliness of all activities implemented under his/her supervision.
    • Assist the IGA officer and maintain a good coordination with vendors to ensure timely stocks available and vendors respect to the agreements signed with DHCBI.
    • Under the supervision of Program Manager, draft and design monitoring tools and train staff on applying them in the field.
    • Provide inputs for design of M&E system and to staff under supervision.
    • Support staff capacity building plan.
    • Develop staff performance objectives and conduct periodic reviews and evaluations.
    • Support the reporting and analysis of budget and spending plans.
    • Prepare internal reports within agreed deadlines using DHCBI and donor formats, as required.

    Logistic and Finance:

    • Assist in the timely submission of distribution and transport plans to logistic.
    • Support with logistic on the status of purchase requests and ensure timely delivery of materials.
    • Ensure expenditure plan for the project and do necessary revisions for approval.
    • In close coordination with finance and Program Manager, manage adherence to WFP compliance at all time.
    • Ensure timely submission of payment requests and supporting documents to logistic and finance and timely payments to vendors.
    • Any other duties as may be assigned by the line manager.

    Administration:

    • Document project reports, project ideas, case and success stories of change and lessons learnt.
    • Provide weekly and monthly data and narrative reports for livelihood component of the project(s).

    Human Resource Development:

    • Lead and manage livelihood team within the project.
    • Supports the orientation, on-going development/training and capacity building of livelihood team.

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • University degree preferably  a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Accounting, Entrepreneurship or Development Studies
    • Demonstrated experience (minimum 2-3 years) in Livelihood management in an NGO/INGO is highly preferable.

    Skills & Knowledge:

    • Good inter-personal skills, commitment, motivation and demonstrated ability to establish effective work relations at all levels.
    • Good communication skills.
    • Flexibility and ability to multi-task under pressure.
    • Fluent in English both written and oral and Hausa is an added advantage.

    Personal qualities:

    Team player, clear communicator, flexible, network-builder, and able to handle pressure under limited supervision, and a commitment to protect human rights, child rights and gender equality.

    Computer/Other Technical Requirements:

    Full professional competency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
