Job Description

The internal control Manager/auditor will prepare/develop and implement an annual audit plan that will identify areas of potential internal control exposure to improve operational and financial efficiency.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks:

• Prepare an internal control & Audit manual for the company.
• Develop internal control policies and procedures and regularly reviews these policies and procedures and immediately reports gaps.
• Carry out a financial and operational audit of the various departments of the company, ensuring that the approved budget is followed.
• Prepare on a monthly basis a variance report on all budget items approved by management at the beginning of the year.
• Carry out physical verification of all assets at every location and reconcile with records maintained in the offices.
• Regularly reviews the strategic and operational activities of the company to assess and identify areas of potential risks to the organization and provide advice and guidelines to management on managing risks.
• Lead investigations on fraud/theft and irregularities and follows up on audit findings.
• Ensure that audit findings and recommendations made during the course of the audit are promptly communicated to management.
• Ensure approved internal procedures are followed by all units in the organization.
• Prepare a yearly audit plan on all departments for management.
• Prepare and review of documentation for external audit exercise.
• Carry out other duties as assigned by the management.

Minimum Requirements:

• First degree in Accounting, Minimum 2.2 or 2.1 in other closely related Field.
• Minimum of 6 years’ previous experience in internal control and Audit in a reputable Organization (Agribusiness or Financial Institution)
• Additional qualification of ACCA, ICAN or other Related Professional Qualification will be an added advantage

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

• Good knowledge and understanding of the industry
• Effective oral and written communication, interpersonal and planning skills
• Experience and knowledge in planning and coordinating period Audit checks
• Good proficiency in Microsoft suite products – word, excel, outlook and PowerPoint application
