The Post

• The Polytechnic Librarian is a Principal Officer and shall be responsible to the Rector for the day-to-day running of the Libraries of the institution.

Qualification and Experience
Interested candidates for the post of Polytechnic Librarian are expected to possess the following qualifications:

• A good honours Degree in Library and Information Science with a minimum of Second Class Honours from a recognized institution of higher learning plus at least Ten (10) years cognate experience; Or a holder of Master's (MLS) Degree from a recognized institution of higher learning plus at least eight (8) years cognate experience; Or a holder of Doctorate Degree plus at least seven (7) years cognate experience in a tertiary institution.
• Experience as a Chief Librarian for a period of not less than 3 years on the rank from the Polytechnic sector will be an added advantage.

Qualities
Applicants must:

• Not be more than 60 years of age at the time of assumption of duty.
• Be a person of proven integrity, intellectually sound, professionally skillful, and conversant with the rules and regulations of the Polytechnic system and IT compliant.
• Vast in public service rules and Financial Regulations
• Physically fit, morally upright of impeccable character and free from financial embarrassment
• Be a person not likely to exhibit ethnic, political, religious or other sectional sentiments in the discharge of duties.

Terms of Appointment

• The appointment is for a single term of five (5) years and no more.

Conditions of Service

• The conditions of service for the posts are as enacted in the Polytechnic's law and the Condition of service applicable in the state.

Salary

• The remunerations shall be as approved by National Salaries, Income and Wages Commission.
