Grants Manager, Fintech at Enhancing Financial Innovation & Access (EFInA)

Job Description

• The ideal candidate will use their passion for Financial technology to drive innovative product design/business solutions among EFInA’s grantees by applying both technical and business skills in order to deliver financial products/solution(s) that are tailored to the customer's need(s) thereby achieving financial inclusion.
• He/She will help increase EFInA’s engagement with Nigerian Fintech community via opportunities with global and local partners (i.e. investors, hubs, operators, etc.), manage all EFInA’s Fintech-related grants portfolio and monitor their performance for success.
• The candidate will explore and implement non-traditional methods of engagement with Fintech grantees to create more opportunities for their success, research, write and regularly publish opinion pieces on the progress and development of the Nigerian Fintech ecosystem and liaise with technology press (online and offline) to ensure continued thought-leadership in the Nigerian (and global) Fintech ecosystem.

Responsibilities

• Conduct market assessments of the Fintech landscape in Nigeria to order to understand the Fintech landscape in Nigeria and identify gaps, market-driven opportunities, and potential innovations to deepen financial inclusion in Nigeria
• Understand global Fintech trends, emerging business practices & innovations and leverage the same to deepen financial inclusion in Nigeria
• Collaborate with the EFInA grantees to build their technical capacity for the utilisation and scale-up of Fintech products in Nigeria
• Foster and develop collaboration opportunities with global Fintech organisations and leverage on lessons learned and technical expertise
• Manage all relationships with members of the Nigerian and global Fintech ecosystem (i.e investors, operators, hubs, technology press, etc.)
• Continuously scan and monitor the Fintech ecosystem to build the grantee pipeline for EFInA Fintech grants
• Manage the initial evaluation of Fintech grant proposals for submission to the Head of Innovation
• Lead the due diligence process for all prospective & current Fintech grantees
• Actively monitor the progress of all grantees vis-à-vis contractual milestones and Grant Agreement

Specification

• A Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Finance, Banking, Law, Business Administration, or any other related discipline (A Master's Degree in International Development or a relevant Social Science related discipline is advantageous)
• Minimum of five years’ experience in a grants/program management-related role, with a track record of success
• Understanding of Nigerian & global Fintech Landscape
• Innovation concept knowledge and relevant approached (Design Thinking, Proof-of-Concept, etc)
• Intimate understanding of existing global technology eco-systems
• Strong relationship management experience with the ability to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders
• Demonstrated project management experience and/or qualification
• Commitment to the financial inclusion agenda
• Founded, managed or worked in a startup is advantageous.
