    Supply Chain Officer

    Axios seek to recruit Supply Chain Specialist that will be located in Abuja, FCT and Supply Chain officers in Kaduna, Kano/Jigawa and Borno/Yobe, for an upcoming DFID funded 7 years health project. All positions are subject to approval and funding.

    Supply Chain Officer

    The Supply Chain Officer will report to the Supply Chain Specialist in Abuja (headquarter). He/She will oversee and guide the strengthening and development of an integrated supply chain system for the proposed DFID Nigeria funded Health Project in the project State. The Supply Chain Officer shall work collaboratively with the SMoH, State Logistic Management Coordinating Unit (LMCU) and Local Government (LG) LMCUs to ensure overall delivery of the DFID Health Project objectives in the state. He/She will support, strengthen and guide the logistics for program commodities to ensure availability and accessibility at the facility and community levels.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Strengthen LGA Logistic Management Coordinating Units (LMCUs) to work collaboratively with the State LMCUs to ensure availability and visibility of logistic data as well as essential health commodities in the health facilities.
    • Support Training of Trainers (TOT) and capacity building of LGA supply chain managers on good storage, commodity management and logistics management information system.
    • Support the stepdown training of facility staff by the LGA supply chain managers (Trainers).
    • Support the establishment and training of health facility committees in the LGAs to serve as champions for mobilization of the community including private health providers to access quality services where provided.
    •  Support the State technically in the procurement of essential health commodities to guarantee accessibility, affordability and value for money.
    • Strengthen a Public Private Partnership (PPP) last mile distribution model for the State Drug Management Unit or Agency.
    • Provide technical support to 3PL Logistics providers to ensure on-time delivery and 100% coverage of all the health facilities listed.
    • Also, work collaboratively with LMCUs and the 3PL to develop specific delivery approach to cater for health facilities in hard to reach area or area with security challenges.
    • Management of consultants (STTAs) in supporting key activities in the State.
    • Support and participate in work planning activities in the State.

    ·         Collate and provide all required reports in a timely manner for monitoring

    Educational Background and Experience

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy, Supply Chain, or other relevant areas.
    • Master’s degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Operations Management, or other relevant areas would be an added advantage.
    • Relevant professional qualification or membership is an advantage.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in logistics and supply chain management for health commodities, preferably in Nigeria.
    • Knowledge and experience in Procurement, Warehousing, Distribution and Quality Management Systems is required.
    • Knowledge and experience in Basic Health Program, Reproductive health, Family planning, and other health programs.
    • Experience in capacity building and training of logistics and health facility staff.
    • Experience working in Northern Nigeria.
    • Demonstrated ability to work with government staff at multiple levels including the state, health facility and community levels.

    Special Skills and Knowledge

    • In-depth understanding of the Nigerian public health sector especially in the areas of HIV/AIDS, family planning, maternal and child health, Malaria, Tuberculosis, etc.
    • Advanced knowledge of drug logistics and supply chain management techniques.
    • Good project management skills.
    • Good knowledge of data analysis and evaluation.
    • Excellent writing, communication and presentation skills.
    • Ability to work with international organizations, government officials, non-governmental organizations and the private sector.
    • Strong computer skills.
    • Fluency in oral and written English.
    • Flexibility and ability to work long hours.
    • Willingness to travel within the State of coverage as may be required
