    Summary

    • The work schedule for this position is: Full Time (40 hours per week)
    • Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time (6 weeks) of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

    Basic Function of the Position

    • Under the supervision of the Deputy Consular Chief, incumbent supervises and assigns workload to three (3) Locally Employed Staff (LE Staff) within the Correspondence Unit (CU) of the Consular Section to process and respond to all inquiries relating to U.S. visas and American Citizen Services (ACS).
    • S/he responds accurately and efficiently to incoming emails, phone calls, and postal mail from the general public regarding Immigrant Visa (IV), Non-Immigrant visa (NIV) and American Citizen Services (ACS).

    Qualifications and Evaluations
    Requirements:

    • Experience:  Four (4) years work experience in consular or other work related to customer services, correspondence, and/or work applying regulatory materials is required.
    • Job Knowledge:  Thorough knowledge of immigration laws, regulations, and procedures, as well as knowledge of Nigerian cultural environment is required.

    Education Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management/Administration, Communications/Mass Communications, Marketing, Public Administration, or Sociology is required.

    Evaluations:

    • This may be tested.

    Language: 

    • Level IV (Fluent) speaking/reading/writing English is required. Level IV (Fluent) in one of local language (Igbo, Hausa, Yoruba etc) is required.

    Skills and Abilities: 

    • Ability to draft correspondence quickly and with minimal grammatical and substantive errors; respond independently to inquiries as well as ability to prioritize work are required.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft software packages and ability to exercise good judgement are required.
