    Technical Assistant (Support Staff)

    Project: Transforming Social Norms II underpinning Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting in Nigeria
    Reporting to: Technical Adviser
    Responsible for: N/A
    Hours: Part time (16 hours per week )
    Type of Contract: Fixed Term, up to 3 months

    Main Purpose of Job

    • The Technical Assistant will support monitoring, evaluation and learning activities across all 4 states, keeping track of indicator and deliverables, helping to gather supporting evidence and documenting learnings.
    • The cover post-holder will work closely with the Technical Advisor and provide support in key technical areas as requested.

    Main Duties
    Under the direct supervision of the Project Manager, the Technical Assistant, will undertake the following:

    • Design, manage and oversee the quality and timely delivery of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights programs for the organization.
    • Support with business development work for the Organization, including but not limited to flagging new funding opportunities, assist in the preparations proposals and concept notes etc.
    • Assist in the development of technical documents needed for the TSON 2 Project or for the organization, including ensuring documents are properly written and meeting pre-set standards.
    • Assist in the development of project strategy, operational work plans and reports for an integrated program consisting of social norm change trainings, curriculum review and development, capacity building project activities.
    • Organize the recruitment, selection, hiring and orientation of national staff members, on an as- needed basis.
    • Assist in the preparation of needs assessments, concept papers and proposals aimed at mobilizing resources for current and future project interventions.
    • Develop and maintain contacts with prospective implementation and funding partners.
    • Additional duties may be assigned for purposes such as meeting deadlines and other organizational needs.

    Person Specification
    Qualifications:

    • Undergraduate degree certificate.

    Experience:

    • Experience of supporting a health programme for at least one year.
    • Experience of producing and/or contributing to external reports and/or research papers.
    • Demonstrable experience conducting relevant technical work in similar organisations.
    • Excellent Excel and quantitative skills.
    • Experience in supporting and co-ordinating technical work in similar organisations, particularly in the field of advocacy and evidence-based policy.
    • Experience of working in a relevant capacity and with governments; international agencies and local NGOs.

    Skills and Attributes:

    • Ability and willingness to respond independently to requests for technical inputs.
    • Experience in supporting and co-ordinating technical work in similar organisations, particularly in the field of advocacy and evidence-based policy.
    • Excellent skills in communication, written and verbal.
    • Proven ability to network and manage relationships with partners, consultants and technical resource persons.

    Other Requirements:
