    Mothers Group Assistant

    Position Summary

    This position provides technical support and oversight functions to Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) who work directly to empower Mothers’ Group at the community levels in intervention areas in order to increase the utilization of Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (MNCH) services through the implementation of WORTH model

    and MNCH factual knowledge. The position will be directly supervised by the Mothers Group Officer.

    Key Responsibilities

    Program Support:

    • Support the CSOs maintenance of graduated Mothers groups and formation of ne.
    • Mothers Groups in SAQIP intervention wards.
    • Support the CSOs to establish and implement pre-birth savings scheme for the mothers’ groups in all intervention wards.
    • Lead in the planning and implementation of Birth Preparedness Scheme (BPS).
    • Support MG interns/consultants to deliver on BPS in their assigned Local Government Areas (LGAs).
    • Data Collection and reporting role:
    • Support Monitoring and Evaluation team to develop survey tools and carry out surveys among mothers’ group members.
    • Assist with desk review of existing assessments reports, identify and fill in gaps.

    Liaison role:

    • Serve as a linkage between Mothers Groups and Ward Development Committees (WDCs), Health Facilities, Government and Maternal and Child Health (MCH) coordinators.
    • Connect Mothers Groups to new opportunities.
    • Perform other tasks as required.

    Minimum Requirements

    • BSc in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Psychology, community or public health with at least 1 year of experience working in NGOs in the same capacity; Individuals who have volunteered in NGOs are encouraged to apply.
    • Ability to analyze and interpret large amount of information.
    • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively as a member of a team.
    • Fluency in English and Hausa language.
    • Excellent ability to communicate and maintain diplomatic and productive relations with the team; resourcefulness, flexibility and ability to work in a changing and challenging environment.
    • Possess positive attitude, Self-motivated, independent, can deliver results under stress and timely manner, team worker, confident in dealing with people.
