    Mobile Technology Officer

    Ref.: IITA-HR-NRS2016-018

    Responsibilities
    Successful candidate will among other things perform the following duties:

    • Review data management plans of proposals (or existing projects);
    • Participate in data management planning workshops of projects;
    • Advice for projects on the choice and use of mobile technology;
    • Prepare devices with software (if not done by ICT)
    • Design standard workflows for mobile collected data;
    • Coordinate training of staff about ODK and designing questionnaires;
    • Convert questionnaires into xlsforms and further into xml for upload in the android devices;
    • Frequently update on new developments in the market;
    • Integrate new developments/software modules into the workflows and overlooking the ODK server;
    • Performa nay other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

    Qualification and Competencies

    • BSc/HND in Computer Science and any other related field with minimum of 2-3 years of experience performing similar role in a structured organization.

    Competencies

    • Proven expertise in database design/data modeling.
    • Experience in administering an ODK aggregate server.
    • Strong analytical skills.
    • Programming skills in html, css, JavaScript and web frameworks.
    • Project data management experience.
    • Ability to communicate with different stakeholders and to explain technicalities in their language for easy understanding and rising enthusiasm for new opportunities.
    • Scientific or development working background is an asset.

    Junior Technical Analyst

    Responsibilities
    Successful candidate will among other things perform the following duties:

    • Care for the business connectivity of databases and SharePoint;
    • Assist the Senior technical analyst with programming work in MySQL and MS SQL;
    • Assist in analyzing business processes together with the data manager, project manager and any other relevant person in information management;
    • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

    Qualification and Competencies

    • BSc/HND in Computer Science, Mathematics and any other related field with minimum of 2-3 years of experience performing similar role in a structured organization.

    Competencies
    The ideal candidate must have:

    • Good experience with administering an institutional SQL database (MySQL, MS SQL).
    • Strong skills in database/SQL programming, both MySQL and MS SQL.
    • Html, CSS, JavaScript high analytical skills.

    • Advanced programming skills in Java and ASP.NET.

    CKAN Repository Officer/Programmer

    Responsibilities
    Successful candidate will among other things perform the following duties:

    • Plan, develop and conduct implementation of CKAN that fits into the IITA data infrastructure and information landscape;
    • Develop draft of workflows for upload, download, harvesting data and connection with databases/platforms, especially SharePoint;
    • Server administration and repair;
    • Serve as collection point of all IITA research output data/metadata;
    • Cataloguing and check of metadata;
    • Check uniqueness of dataset;
    • Assessing need and conducting of a file conversion
    • Filling of missing metadata;
    • Assessing need/usefulness/ability to present the data in a “eye catching” format (map, chart, diagram etc.);
    • Implement customization
    • Programming links to other repositories, especially the python based GeoNode;
    • Give persistent identifier;
    • Inform interested data users;
    • Managing content of legacy data;
    • Perform any other related duties as may be assigned.

    Qualification and Competencies

    • B.Sc/HND in Computer Science, Mathematics or Statistics and any other related field with minimum of 2-3 years of experience performing similar role in a structured organization.

    Competencies
    The ideal candidate must have:

    • Proven experience in setting up a corporate CKAN platform.
    • Experience working with CKAN.
    • Very strong programming skills in Python (or PHP).
    • Good programming skills in html, CSS, JavaScript, web frameworks and general open source usage.

    Project Data Officer

    Responsibilities
    Successful candidate will among other things perform the following duties:

    • Give advice to project managers and project data managers;
    • Contribute in writing Procedural guidelines and workflow descriptions in projects in collaboration with SharePoint designer; creating and refining Project/Unit SP-site template;
    • Contribute in writing project/unit data management plans;
    • Seek approval of project/unit data management plans;
    • Facilitate project data management discussions;
    • Travel to other African countries on assignmen;

    Research Supervisor

    Responsibilities
    Successful candidate will among other things perform the following duties:

    • Prepare and maintain centralized laboratory reagents and buffers for nucleic acid isolation;
    • Conduct regular molecular biology Work (Plant DNA/RNA isolation, DNA/RNA quality and quantity analysis, PCR, and Gel Electrophoresis);
    • Assist in data analysis and report writing;
    • Actively participate in field sample collection while taking utmost care in tracking and maintaining sample records from the field to the lab;
    • Conduct routine procurement and organize activities of equipment, chemicals and lab supplies;
    • Keep an up-to-date record of laboratory supplies and participate in procurement processing;
    • Keep laboratory benches and equipment in good working condition;
    • Maintain accurate data records and laboratory notebooks and computer records that can be accessed on demand by supervisor;
    • Ensure compliance with laboratory safety regulations;
    • Train junior staff, short-term visitors, Corpers and IT students;
    • Perform any other duties as may be assigned.

    Qualification and Competencies

    • BSc. / HND in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or related field with 2 years’ relevant experience performing similar role.

    Projects Finance Manager

    Location: Ibadan
    Recruitment Type: National (3-year renewable contract)

    Responsibilities
    Successful candidate will among other things perform the following duties:

    • Set up accounts/files in order to meet reporting requirements of donors on restricted on core project
    • Produce of periodic financial statements on restricted core projects
    • Monitor and follow-up on receivables from donors
    • Ensure reconciliation and booking of financial statements to the general ledger
    • Advise Project Coordinators/Scientists on financial status of Projects.
    • Ensure computation and booking of overhead chargeable on restricted core.
    • Ensure provision of annual budget for restricted core projects
    • Review restricted core accounts
    • Investigate and responding to queries from donors
    • Prepare of restricted core status/receivables schedules and determination of year-end provision for Audited Financial Statements
    • Monitoring and reporting on payments/justification to NARS.
    • Coordinating closing of monthly accounts on oracle, setting up of periods in the system and
    • Backs topping of Institute stations’ Administrators/Finance Officers on both financial and donor related issues.
    • Liaise with Contracts & Grants Officer, Project Coordinators and Scientists on project-related issues
    • Advising top Management on financial requirements/budgeting on contractual agreements with donors
    • Responsible for ensuring adequate recovery of overhead on projects managed by the Institute on a regular basis
    • Supporting the Accounts Receivable Module of Oracle
    • Serve as member of the Institute Risk Committee that assesses and advises the Management & Board on Continuity Plan
    • Signing of Cheques and making on-line payments (GAPS, Master Cards, etc.)
    • Resource Person during Station Administrator & Accountants` meeting and Induction of new Staff
    • Act as Contact Person for the Institute to the CRP Lead Centres
    • Member of On-Campus Project Maintenance that supervises and monitor effectiveness of the projects
    • Member of the Extended Management team that advises the Management on Project Execution and Sustainability
    • Serve as Finance Directorate Training Coordinator
    • Monthly review of IRS & NRS Payroll
    • Any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor accept responsibilities.

    Qualification and Competencies

    • MBA in Financial Management with 15 years relevant managerial experience performing similar role in a well-structured organization.
    • Possession of ACA or ACCA is a must.
