    Nigeria Executive Assistant

    The Executive Assistant Role

    UpEnergy seeks professionals interested in clean energy, rural distribution, international health, and development to serve as the Executive Assistant for our operations in given country. The role requires innovative and dynamic thinking, management skills, high organizational ability, and excellent interpersonal communication skills. The Executive assistant will report directly to the Country Director. UpEnergy distributes clean cookstoves and other energy-saving products throughout the country. As we source products from multiple suppliers and distribute them through over a dozen points of sale, An executive assistant who can manage the reporting process, key project timelines, and supporting teams and various projects is highly needed.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Reporting directly to the Country director, the Executive Assistant provides executive and high-level administrative support to the country Director that includes a wide range of admin and business operations functions to enable the success and growth of our company. Main responsibilities will include:
    • The EA will successfully communicate, and project manage strategic initiatives in line with the leadership’s priorities
    • Overseeing the management of our Abuja office (branding, equipment, software, intranet, compliance), while undertaking office improvement activities
    • Implementing branding and marketing communications initiatives working closely with our global HQ – this may include representing UpEnergy at industry events at functions in Nigeria
    • Manage key business partnerships that may not necessarily fall under the portfolio of any specific business unit.
    • Drafting and collaborating on corporate communications, reports, and presentations
    • Supporting the preparation of proposals and pitches, working closely with business development
    • Coordinating schedules by planning and scheduling meetings, conferences, travel, and reservations
    • Being responsive to emails/texts/phone calls, including contact outside normal business hours
    • Maintaining a high level of confidentiality and discretion
    • Our ideal EA will have experience handling a wide range of business and executive support related tasks and will be able to work independently and take ownership of all assignments.
    • This person must be exceptionally well organized, flexible, and willing to take on new challenges for our evolving company.

    Requirements

    The ideal person for this role is someone who is very creative and entrepreneurial, someone who gets things done even without being told.

    • 4+ years’ experience in a similar role; start up experience is a plus.
    • Strong business acumen (developed through school or experience).
    • A University Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of a second class upper
    • Outstanding time management, execution, and organizational skills.
    • Planning & project management skills; managing & coordinating multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Must be very Articulate and understand the dynamics of a business environment.
    • Business level written and verbal English communication skills.
    • Comfortable learning and adapting to different softwares
    • A positive minded person who is able to work under pressure

    Nigeria Production Manager

    The Production Manager Role

    The Production manger will report directly to the Country Director. UpEnergy distributes clean cookstoves and other energy-saving products throughout the country. As we source products from multiple suppliers and distribute them through over a dozen points of sale, tracking and managing our inventory is essential to our business operations. The primary responsibility of the production manager is drive availability of products through Manufacturing. This role would also have elements of Warehouse management, Materials Planning, and Quality control

    Key Responsibilities:

    Production

    • Lead the strategic development of UpEnergy’s in-house production capacity
    • Decide on optimal size, location and type of manufacturing facility(ies)
    • Establish manufacturing system and production process with a view towards replicability and scalability
    • Determine ideal resources, tools and teams required for production facilities of varying sizes
    • Build products that are high quality, affordable and consistent at scale

    Sourcing

    • Build a robust and efficient supply chain of inputs required for manufacturing
    • Build production capacity and optimize sourcing across various markets by coordinating progress and strategy with UpEnergy’s business development team, commercial team, country teams, as well external manufacturing partners
    • Develop and maintain healthy relationships with suppliers of raw materials
    • Work alongside product and engineering teams to identify best raw materials available for production in various markets, considering that no two markets may provide exactly the same inputs

    Quality Assurance & Consistency

    • Formalize Quality Assurance Function for in-house production facilities as well as third-party suppliers
    • Collaborate with external manufacturing partners to ensure and/or improve their ability to maintain consistent quality, meet production and delivery deadlines, and carry out required checks
    • Establish best practices for QA / QC throughout our production facilities
    • Work cross-functionally to identify and implement improvements in both in terms of product and production processes

     

    Operations & Supply Chain

    • Implement systems with country teams for ordering and delivery of product from production facilities to distribution points around our various markets
    • Develop and maintain ideal strategy for managing demand from various country operations across our various UpEnergy production sites and partner manufacturers

    Does this sound like you?

    Must Have

    • Relevant Bachelor’s degree, Preferably in Mechanical Engineering
    • 8+ years of production or manufacturing experience, especially with Metals.
    • Experience managing production/manufacturing facilities
    • Experience coordinating with engineers to improve inputs, design and manufacturing process of products
    • Solid understanding of sourcing raw materials, ideally across developing markets
    • Motivated to build a business that improves the lives of customers and the environment
    • Strong leadership and team building abilities
    • Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills
    • Strong organizational skills
    • Experience as a trusted resource as a member of a leadership team
    • Willingness to travel to our different markets

    Nigeria Supply Chain Manager

    The Supply Chain Role

    The Supply Chain Manager will report directly to the Country Director. UpEnergy distributes clean cookstoves and other energy-saving products throughout the country. As we source products from multiple suppliers and distribute them through over a dozen points of sale, tracking and managing our inventory is essential to our business operations. The primary responsibility of the Supply chain manager is drive availability of products through the creation of partnerships with 3rd party manufacturers, Design and manage an efficient logistics process to ensure the movement of goods across different states, manage both direct and indirect procurements within the business.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Inbound Logistics – organizing export with foreign suppliers and liaising with freight forwarders and regulatory agencies.
    • Monitor all inbound cargo until received in the factory.
    • Vendor relations (including contract manufacturers)
    • Supply & Demand Forecasting – work with the management team to determine ordering needs, lead times, etc.
    • Outbound Logistics – work with freight forwarders and pertinent government regulatory agencies for correct documentation and processes are adhered to for any exports from our company.
    • Coordinate strategic sourcing, planning, and logistics activities for the business.
    • Maintain material resources planning and logistics activities for the business.
    • Facilitate activities with departments in the clarification and development of clear and concise specifications for materials, products, equipment, and services.
    • Work with the R&D team to help guide new product development
    • Assist in ERP implementation and training
    • Work with warehouse manager on raw material control and material call-offs for replenishment
    • Drive continuous improvements in the supply chain.
    • Work with the central procurement team for any international procurement and feedback on quality or any raw material and equipment issues affecting production processes.
    • Lead team in negotiations with vendors/carriers to gain the required service levels at a price point that enhances organizational profitability.
    • Onboard local suppliers using the set criteria.
    • Lead supply chain team in identifying risk mitigation requirements.
    • Lead company exemption and tax reliefs for import of materials, equipment, and spares
    • Facilitate organizational activities to mitigate risk
    • Any other duties as assigned by your line manager

    Skills and Experience:

    • Degree in Supply Chain, Procurement, and Logistics or related field
    • Previous experience in the supply chain, procurement, or similar

    • Comfortable with Excel
    • Good understanding of country laws on tax and duties and HS codes.
    • Previous working experience as a Supply Chain Manager for 8 years.
