    Villam Agric Ltd (VA) is a joint venture between Terra Agric and DMA Capital Ltd. We are currently exploring 7-grain warehouses in Nigeria with a storage capacity of 250,000 mt storing maize, soybeans, sorghum and rice. VA also has 2000 hectares of farmland and grows high value added crops like hybrid seeds and other seed crops. The farm also contains a 5000 head cattle.

    Senior Silo Operator

    DUTIES

    • Set up and operate silo equipment in accordance with current good storage and food handling practices and standard operating procedures;
    • Observe panel lights for indication of malfunction and adjusts conveyors to regulate feed of grain into and out of silos;
    • Control panelboard to convey grains from drying machines into silos and to packing machines, push buttons to start conveyors in specified sequence, according to daily production schedule;
    • Calibrate or adjust scientific or technical equipment to ensure quality production, using tools such as callipers, micrometres, height gauges, protractors, or ring gauges;
    • Test performance of electrical, electronic, mechanical, or integrated systems or equipment;
    • Troubleshoot problems with equipment, devices, or products; determining causes of operational problems or failures;
    • Immediately escalate every malfunction that is beyond your control to the Location Manager;
    • Monitor the productivity or efficiency of silos operations, monitoring and adjusting production processes or equipment for quality and productivity;
    • Start up and shut down the silo storage system;
    • Assist engineers in developing, building, or testing prototypes or new products, processes, or procedures;
    • Participate in silo maintenance program by performing routine preventative maintenance tasks as directed and interact with the Location Manager to facilitate, repair, or replacement equipment as directed;
    • Package outgoing grains in the appropriate packaging materials for transport in recommended standards;
    • Keep production logs and prepare daily operational reports;
    • Maintain inventories of materials, equipment, or products;
    • Participate in grain quality management by regular cleaning of storage bins/silos; Select cleaning materials, tools, process, or equipment;
    • Adhere to all applicable regulations, policies and procedures for health, safety, and environmental compliance;
    • Assist in the operation of the generating set and other heavy-duty machines to ensure silo operations is not truncated;
    • Ensure safety of personnel by executing silo operations in accordance with standard operating procedures.
    • Maintaining good records report/log books

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s Degree/HND in Agricultural or Mechanical/Production Engineering with 2-5 years of relevant working experience.
    • Technically sound and flexible with proven operational handling experience is required.
    • Good Microsoft Office skills including Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint.
    • Ability to work technically with generators, electric-motors, conveyor-belts, dryers, car, forklift, bagging equipment, truck, and weighbridge) are preferred.
    • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with both internal and external customers.
    • Demonstrated written, analytical, presentation, reporting and computing skills and familiarity with modern communication systems (internet, the worldwide web, Emails and WhatsApp).
    • Strong English language skills are essential and effective communication in Native Language of the specific location.

    Laboratory Operator

    Description and Key Responsibilities

    • Approve incoming materials by confirming specifications, conducting a visual and measurement test, and rejecting and returning unacceptable materials;
    • Implement quality control tests in the lab as well as on-site when necessary;
    • Perform the testing and calibrating of laboratory equipment in preparation for specific tasks;
    • Perform quality control tests on ingredients, completed products and product samples;
    • Follow all company policies and procedures to ensure product integrity and quality control;
    • Collect samples of materials or products, checking them to ensure conformance to specifications or testing them in the laboratory;
    • Analyze retrieved data and prepare reports for laboratory management;
    • Recognize and report any food safety issues;
    • Document and update inspection results by completing reports and logs;
    • Determine and schedule a periodical fumigation of the silo bins and environ.

    Key Competencies:

    • Possess a ND/HND/Bachelor’s degree in Food Science/Technology, Science Laboratory Technology or Food Microbiology;
    • Excellent communication skills;
    • Computer literate and fully conversant with office equipment including photocopier, scanner and printers;
    • Good knowledge of QC/QA guidelines and also Health and safety regulation in a similar role; however, training will be provided if necessary;
    • Safety Licenses and qualifications related to food safety are preferred;
    • Between 3 and 5 years laboratory experience in food manufacturing/processing environment;
    • Capable of prioritizing tasks to meet goals and ensure product quality.
    • willing to meet on-call obligations as needed.

    Weighbridge Operator

    DUTIES

    • ·Monitor the weighbridge and calibrate the inward and outward movement of all trucks/vehicles in the silo locations;
    • Check and log in drivers' details as they come in and out of the site, weigh lorries when they arrive and leave;
    • Operate conveyors or other industrial material moving equipment;
    • Control traffic flow and safety of vehicles within the weighbridge area;
    • Ensure all visiting drivers/contractors and customers are issued the location rules and sign in and out of location;
    • Ensure accurate data entry for containers and vehicles as needed;
    • Keep fuel and lubricants records and along same the maintenance record on the location;
    • Fill reports of maintenance and operation of the weighbridge;
    • Support location operations manager with HSE reports including reporting of hazards, near-misses, and accidents;
    • Record production’ data like weights, types, quantities and storage locations of materials as well as equipment performance problems and downtime;
    • Weigh incoming and outgoing trucks and collect all waybills, document, and duplicate copies to be collected by concerned departments;
    • Adhere to all applicable regulations, policies and procedures for health, safety, and environmental compliance;
    • Prepare and submit a weekly report of activities carried out;
    • Supervise and coordinate ad-hoc staff within the premise as directed by the Location manager;
    • Ensure proper housekeeping around the weighbridge and especially the gaps between the weighing platform and the foundation for accurate weighing;
    • Ensure that any exceptions are brought to the attention of the management as necessary to protect the company’s interest.

    Qualification and Experience

    • Possess a ND/HND/Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Industrial/Production/Agricultural/ Metallurgical & Material Engineering
    • Computer literate and fully conversant with office equipment including photocopier, scanner, and printers;
    • Excellent communication skills (both oral and electronic);
    • Proficient knowledge of health and safety practices with prior experience in similar role
    • Good knowledge of operation of forklift vehicle.
    • Ability to trouble shoot problems with weigh bridge and platform scales
    • Between 2 to 3 years’ experience
