    Workshop Supervisor II (Logistics)

    Locations: Calabar - Cross River and Ewekoro - Ogun

    Job Description

    • The candidate would support the maintenance department to ensure that fleet of trucks are available, dependable and well maintained at all times.
    • He/She would be responsible for troubleshooting, certifying maintenance jobs, supervising the technicians and reducing high way breakdowns.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Assist to coordinate the activities of the workshop on a day to day basis.
    • Organize and supervise the servicing, maintenance and repair of the company’s fleet and ensure that the vehicles are in good working conditions at all times.
    • Ensure that the vehicles come to the workshop at the designated kilometers for servicing.
    • Supervise the maintenance and repair of all of the vehicle fleet and other technical support equipment to ensuring that overhauls, preventative maintenance and repair are done in a cost effective manner, with attention given to quality and longer duration of vehicles
    • Ensure that planning, scheduling, and unscheduled repairs are carried out efficiently and cost effectively, with quality service
    • Regularly report progress on each job to line manager
    • Ensure that all the tools and equipment in the workshop are functional and are being prudently used.
    • Technical supervision of vehicles at all points
    • Avoid and ensure pilfering of the company’s tools and materials do not occur through thorough monitoring
    • Assign vehicles for maintenance to a designated Mechanic(s) and take proper records in case the vehicles fails with guidance from line manager
    • Design a working time frame to ensure vehicles do not exceed the required time at the workshop.
    • Prepare weekly, monthly and quarterly maintenance reports
    • Any other duties related to or arising from the performance of what is listed above.

    Requirements

    • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized tertiary institution
    • Minimum of 7 years of progressive working experience in a similar position
    • Proven experience working with trucks and semi-literate mechanics.
    • Knowledge and experience with HOWO trucks is an added advantage.

    Skills and Abilities:

    • Must be able to develop and maintain best practices for workshop procedures
    • He must be computer literate with relevant workshop and vehicle maintenance procedures
    • Must be experienced in interpreting manufacturers' manuals, using modern diagnostic equipment and implementing preventive maintenance procedures
    • Hands-on experience in truck, light or heavy equipment maintenance and repair.
    • Knowledge of truck’s components and maintenance of such components.
    • Ability to read and comprehend service and technical information
    • Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair equipment with accuracy and speed.

    Transport Manager

    Job Description

    • We are recruiting an agile Transport Manager to oversee the management its business.
    • He / She will champion the formulation and implementation of strategies and plans for the company’s haulage and logistics operations to ensure profitability and drive business growth in line with the company’s objectives.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Support the company in the management of relationships with clients and external stakeholders through a coordinated approach including attendance at meetings.
    • Ensure that company's trucks are operated efficiently and economically. Supervise and coordinate vehicle maintenance to reduce downtown of vehicles.
    • Manage company costs by developing cost management processes, engendering a financially responsible culture and introducing tactical initiatives to address theft and other losses.
    • Assess and implement improved processes and new technologies, and collaborating with management regarding the implementation of these improvements.
    • Prepare, manage and communicate the operational strategy in support of the overarching company strategy as well as review, develop and measure key metrics for the operation
    • Establish and monitor performance-reporting systems (i.e. track performance against goals, ensure workshop and client managers provide quality regular reports, and provide regular updates;
    • Develop, establish, and direct execution of operating policies and procedures to support overall company policies and objectives;
    • Regularly evaluate standard operating procedures and create centralized best practices within different locations to ensure uniform performance throughout the company
    • Plan, direct and evaluate the operation of all functions of the maintenance division, ensuring that vehicles do not stay longer than scheduled at the workshop
    • Develop, and implement controls to guard against revenue spillage and ensure that our workshops are properly managed to ensure that our trucks are optimally utilized by spending more time on the road;
    • Review and approve monthly vehicle maintenance schedule and communicate with client to ensure preventive maintenance and reduce downtime, as well as prepare and share planned and breakdown maintenance compliance report with client.
    • Review journey management plans and ensure compliance with clients’ contracts
    • Support the company’s expansion in other cities and other sectors.

    Requirements
    Educational Qualification:

    • First Degree from a reputable tertiary institution
    • M.Sc is an added advantage
    • Relevant professional qualifications from a recognized professional body (e.g. Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport (CILT) and Certified Institute of Warehousing & Materials Management (CIWM).

    Experience:

    • Minimum of 5 years post qualification experience
    • Proven experience in Supply Chain management, including, haulage, logistics, and fleet management and customer service operations
    • Multi-site management experience in the fleet management and logistics services.

    Skills and Abilities:

    • In-depth knowledge of global and local transport and logistics best practices
    • Experience working with a large and unskilled/semiskilled workforce;
    • Has thorough understanding of heavy-duty vehicle operations and working knowledge of engines and vehicles at large;
    • Possesses working knowledge of budgeting, business development, and strategic planning;
    • Thinks strategically and innovatively on operational and technical aspects of the business
    • An ability to coach and mentor direct reports to improve their performance and impact.

    Fleet Manager

    Job Description

    • We are recruiting Fleet Managers for our Calabar and Ewekoro operations. The ideal Candidate will be responsible for Managing assigned fleet of trucks and drivers as well to ensure achievemnet of the delivery targets.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Oversee assigned fleet’s operations
    • Route surveys and planning
    • Monitor and report daily trucks turn-around time
    • Direct activities related to dispatching, routing, and tracking vehicles
    • Direct investigations to verify and resolve all complaints relating to fleet management or drivers conduct
    • Coordinate daily pre-trip and post-trip truck inspections
    • Conduct, in conjunction with the tracking unit, proper tracking of drivers in transit to ensure prompt and target time of delivery
    • Ensure prompt handling and coordination of rescue operations of company’s vehicles, personnel and goods, whenever the need arises
    • Recommend cost cutting strategies in order to maximize profits.
    • Any other activities as required.

    Educational Requirements

    • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized tertiary institution
    • M.Sc. in Transport or Logistics is an added advantage.
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in supply chain management, including, haulage, logistics, and fleet management and customer service operations.
