    Deputy Director, Global Health Informatics

    Purpose of the Position

    • The Global Health Informatics Directorate is responsible for developing, maintaining, and implementing digital solutions used by both eHealth Africa and its partners. S/he will oversee both the product development team who develop/integrate solutions and the GIS and Analytics services team.
    • S/he will provide leadership and motivation for the engineering and services teams and collaborate with cross-functional teams including:
    • New Business Development
    • Program Management
    • Partners
    • Executive Management Team
    • Keywords: Health Informatics, Product Management, Software Development, Release Planning, Agile.

    What You’ll Do
    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned:

    Product Strategy:

    • Assists with the development of a sustainable business and cost model for the division
    • Provides visible leadership for the company within the Global and Public Health Informatics community.
    • Overall responsibility for the product strategy of eHA software (LoMIS, Data Portal, PlanFeld, SMART)
    • Regularly meet with Program Management to assess and define future product needs
    • Communicate the overall vision for product development to Sr management, stakeholders, partners, and development team

    Oversee Solution Design and Delivery:

    • Lead, mentor and coach highly skilled engineers to deliver highly performant, well tested, scalable and usable applications
    • Review and oversee the design and implementation of mobile-enabled (Android), web-based health, and demographic surveillance software.
    • Formulate strategy, Solutions & Implementation of digital health solutions and approaches
    • Work with Programs to set the high-level development priorities/schedule
    • Provide oversight to ensure that the development team is making good choices about when to build new software, reuse existing software or integrate with third-party software/systems
    • Ensures that the management and deliverables of informatics solutions are completed on schedule and stakeholders are kept aware of progress and milestones

    New Business Development:

    • Performs business and technical feasibility analyses of complex informatics projects
    • Builds strategic relationships with key leaders in Global and Public Health Informatics to intimately understand the needs of Sub-Saharan Africa.

    Participation in Executive Level Strategy:

    • Actively participates in organization strategy conversations as part of the Executive Team
    • Collaborates actively with national partner institutions, professional associations, and vendors in conferences, meetings, and projects.
    • Development and monitoring annual and multi-year capital and operational budgets for the various projects and programs.

    Team Management Responsibilities:

    • Oversee the professional development of direct reports
    • Ensure directorate adherence to legal and company standards
    • Monitor and analyze directorate operating costs
    • Participates in and promotes a positive, supportive, cooperative team environment.
    • Attends and participates in annual strategic planning meetings, country management meetings,
    • Staff meetings, training classes, and supervision.
    • Adheres to Policies and Procedures.
    • Adheres to eHealth Africa Code of Conduct as well as ethical standards of the field.

    Who You Are
    The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to successfully perform this job:

    • PhD or Master's degree in Health Informatics, Software Development, or other related field or equivalent years of education and work experience or any related field.
    • Minimum of 10 years of experience as a Lead consultant or advisor to companies on digital health delivery system and setup would be an added advantage
    • Demonstrated executive/managerial skills, including experience managing complex programs.
    • Experience in building a roadmap for health informatics system and strategic health policy
    • Ability to conduct research in relevant health informatics systems areas and capacity to support enabling environment for Health and mHealth projects and products.
    • Experience with technology systems, informatics strategic planning.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, develop staff, and work with executive management on both short and long-term strategic planning.
    • Demonstrated capacity to effectively communicate via writing, public speaking, and interpersonal interactions.
    • Practical knowledge of open source data integration and business intelligence tools
    • Cognate experience in data integration, cleansing, analysis, and visualization of data (Data Analytics & big data)
    • Experience using project tracking systems (e.g. JIRA, Asana, etc)
    • Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with the Board of Directors, funders, community organizations, government officials, corporate executives, general public, and staff.
    • Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team.
    • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
    • Knowledge of technology project management
    • Strong leadership skills that include the ability to build effective teams, ability to motivate others, delegate, and make timely/quality decisions.

    Dentist

    Department: Dental
    Division: EHA Clinics
    Reports to: Practice and QA Manager

    Job Summary

    • The Dentist will perform general clinical dentistry procedures such as exams, direct and indirect restorative work, tooth extractions and any other dental procedures.
    • S/he will also provide endodontic care, perform crown and bridge procedures and provide fixed and removable prosthodontics care.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.

    Dentist Duties

    • Meeting with patients to discuss and treat dental concerns, performing regular cleanings and other preventative procedures, and establish a plan for better dental hygiene.
    • Performing dental procedures, such as extractions, root canals, and filling cavities.
    • Correcting bite issues and overcrowding.
    • Applying helpful agents to teeth, such as sealants or whiteners.
    • Prescribing medications for dental problems, such as pain medications or antibiotics.
    • Giving clients sedatives or anesthesia prior to administering treatments.
    • Ordering diagnostic measures, such as x-rays, models, etc.
    • Using tools, such as drills, probes, brushes, or mirrors, to examine and treat teeth and mouth.
    • Keeping records relating to the oral health of patients and the treatments given to them.

    Patient & Family Education/Support:

    • Provide emotional support and measures to alleviate fear and anxiety.
    • Assess patient and family readiness and identifying learning needs.
    • Lead/encourage multidisciplinary approach for patient’s discharge.
    • Develop and implement the teaching plan utilizing patient education manual.
    • Document patient and family education.
    • Participate in voluntary community health activities to promote, maintain and restore health and prevent diseases.
    • Adheres to Policies and Procedures.
    • Adheres to EHA Clinics Code of Conduct as well as ethical standards of the field.

    • S/he is expected to continue to learn throughout their career at EHA Clinics through continuing professional development (CPD). The professional body relating to specialist areas will have information on the type of CPD to be carried out and how much should be completed each year. 

    Key Areas of Note 

    • Ensure continuing education, training and development is undertaken to meet clinical governance guidelines for Continuing Professional Development and a Personal Development Plan. 
    • Keep up to date with relevant medical research, technology, and evidence-based medical practice by attending continuing education courses and professional meetings, reading journals, etc.
    • Perform a variety of research and analysis tasks associated with improvement of clinical care, medical diagnosis, and treatment where appropriate.
    • Audit of clinical practice and review of relevant literature. 
    • Research unusual symptoms and treatment options, through consultation with physicians and other medical specialists.
    • Provide literature reviews and the like; review, analyze and determine the significance of a variety of diagnostic test results

    Qualifications & Training

    • Bachelor’s degree from a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Doctor of Dental Surgery or Dental Medicine degree.
    • Possessing a certified and valid license with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) from a recognized institution.

    • Five(5) years post NYSC progressive experience in Dentistry within the private and public sector. Experience working with public health and health systems is an advantage.

    Salary

    • Competitive salary scale based on improvements from the CONMESS and CONHESS salary structures as well as surveys from top private hospitals in Nigeria.
    • Salary is negotiable but performance-based. Base salary constitutes 70%, while 30% is a bonus based on predefined individual performance indicators and monthly organizational performance.
