    Operations Director

    • The Operations Director role is a dynamic and agile position that will play a key role in enabling the implementation of project activities in an efficient and compliant manner and ensuring the effective use of resources for maximum impact.
    • The Operations Director ensures that TechnoServe Benin adheres to legal standards, donor contract terms and in-house policies. S/he is also responsible for improving planning and implementation capabilities in all areas, particularly in forecasting and program work plans. S/he is responsible for enforcing regulations and providing guidance, best practices, and training on operational effectiveness and compliance matters.
    • Reporting to the Country Director, the Operations Director oversees the Procurement and Logistic teams and suggests improvement in all our administrative, operational and financial processes.

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Compliance management
    • Examine the effectiveness of internal controls and compliance, identify gaps in procedures and control systems, and provide recommendations to the SMT for strengthening them.
    • Guide the admin and project team in terms of compliance optimisation.
    • Prepare detailed reports of each compliance review and other task assignments, with prioritised findings and recommendations.
    • Document internal control weaknesses, compliance deviations, and their impact, and make recommendations to address them.
    • Provide compliance, code of conduct and ethics training on a regular basis
    • Go through the audit requirements and Benin audit reports to suggest improvements.
    • Participates in ethical or conflict of interest investigations upon request.
    • Operations, Admin, Finance and Logistics improvement support
    • Act as focal point person for all operational Activities (IT, Procurement, Logistics, in coordination with Finance and HR)
    • Develop forecasting and financial analyses tool to inform planning and operational decision-making for programs.
    • Train and coach members of the program team in the use of the different operational tracking tools
    • Provide pro-active advice to program teams to ensure optimal operational systems while maintaining adherence to TechnoServe’s relevant policies (e.g., vehicle policy, travel policy, procurement policy, etc.)
    • Support in-country program teams to develop and update quarterly operational plans for procurement, team logistics, and vehicle management (including vehicle fueling and maintenance)
    • Assess and suggest improvement for the above operation activities
    • Identify gaps in knowledge and skills and provide training
    • Initiate quarterly internal customer satisfaction surveys for the shared services

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree (with 12 years of relevant experience), or Master's degree (with 8 years of relevant experience) in accounting, business administration, economics, or other relevant area
    • Operation management experience in similar organisation required
    • Familiarity dealing with ethic and compliance in the non-profit sector
    • Extensive knowledge of USG donors’ procedures. Familiarity with other donors would be a plus.
    • Experience in international development, including working with foundations, corporations, and other multi- and bilateral donors
    • Experience developing reports for a senior audience
    • Fluency in both English and French
    • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
    • Proven ability to serve as a trusted advisor, providing business leaders with professional, accurate, and timely support; able to diagnose complex matters and develop relevant and balanced solutions
