JOB SUMMARY
The Office Clerk & Cleaner’s overall responsibility is to ensure that the general work environment is kept tiding at all time. He is to assist to follow up and ensure office utilities, internal control, visitors/workshops logistics are provided. As part of the CARE administration team, the Office Clerk & Cleaner position undertakes and assist in all administration tasks and requirements, provides support to staff, to programs, and to implement administration team projects. The position will report to the Admin Officer but will support the CARE management team were necessary.

II. RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
Job Responsibility #1: Ensure office space is kept tidy
- General cleaning of all office floors
- Dusting and cleaning of all furniture (Bookshelves, Photo frames, Cabinet, Printers, Computers etc.)
- Emptying and cleaning of all dustbins, shredders and ash trays
- General cleaning of all glass doors and windows
- General cleaning of all partition and wooden doors.
- General cleaning of all electrical gadgets (Light fittings, electrical switches, A/C Vents etc.)
- Cleaning of all Carpeted floor where available
- Washing of all hard floors (Marble, granite, Terrazzo, and Ceramic tiles) and all corridors and stairways
- General cleaning and disinfecting of all toilets (WCs, Urinal bowls, Wash-hand basins and showers)
- Washing of all wall finishing and tiles
- General cleaning and removal of cobwebs from all ceilings and corridors
- General cleaning of the designated areas for cleaning and litter control of the surrounding.

Job Responsibility #2: Ensure routine sanitation
Weekly Schedule
- Buffing, Scrubbing and polishing of hard floors and walls
- Cleaning and polishing of all wooden and metal surfaces
- Removal of cobwebs
- Cleaning of all ceiling and A/C Vents
- Cleaning of window frames and glass
Monthly Schedule
- Cleaning of internal light fittings
- Cleaning of window sills
Quarterly Schedule
- Dusting/cleaning of lights and fittings including air conditioners grill, all surfaces and objects.
- Washing and shampooing of carpets where necessary
- Polishing of all wooden surface
% of Time: 15%
Job Responsibility #3: Ensure the guest house is kept tidy
- General cleaning of all rooms in the guest house
- Dusting and cleaning of all furniture (Bookshelves, Photo frames, Cabinet, electronics)
- Emptying and cleaning of all dustbins
- General cleaning of all glass doors and windows
- General cleaning of all partition and wooden doors.
- General cleaning of all electrical gadgets (Light fittings, electrical switches, A/C Vents etc.)
- General cleaning and disinfecting of all toilets (WCs, Urinal bowls, Wash-hand basins and showers)
- Washing of all wall finishing and tiles
- General cleaning and removal of cobwebs from all ceilings and corridors
- General cleaning of the designated areas for cleaning and litter control of the surrounding.

Job Responsibility #4: Clerical Functions
- Compile, copy, sort, and file records of office activities, business transactions, and other activities
- Operate office machines, such as photocopiers and scanners and personal computers
- Deliver messages and run errands
- Inventory and order materials, supplies, and services
- Count, weigh, measure, and/or organize materials
- Troubleshoot problems involving office equipment, such as computer hardware and software

- Job Responsibility #5: Perform other duties as assigned

PROBLEM SOLVING
There are three levels of problem-solving:
- What has to be done and how to do it are clearly defined, and the incumbent will face identical or similar problems on a regular basis;
- What has to be done is known, but how to do it is not defined. The incumbent must use interpolative skills to pick and choose the right strategy to address a given problem; and
- Why things are done is known, but what has to be done and how to do it are not defined.
- Situations are variable and the incumbent’s response will involve analysis, problem definition, development of alternatives, and making recommendations. She will face and address problems that are typically non-recurring.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/ Training:
Required:
Minimum of Secondary School Leaving Certificate
Experience
Required:
1 - 2 years progressively responsible experience in related field.
Desired:
Previous experience working with an INGO or a Development organization.
Technical skills
Required:
- Excellent Analytical skill, good written and oral communication skills
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and work with minimum supervision
- Ability to multitask and work within deadlines
- Fluency in English is essential.
Desired:
Working knowledge of Hausa is an advantage.
