    Livelihoods Officer -Roster

    Job Summary

    JRS is currently looking for skilled and experienced Livelihood officers to be included in a talent pool of candidates for the various locations within which JRS serves in Nigeria.
    The Livelihoods Officer under the supervision of Project Director will be responsible for designing, implementing, and monitoring livelihoods projects, providing support to beneficiaries in income-generating activities, and assessing the impact of interventions. S/He will collaborate with local communities, stakeholders, and partners to enhance economic opportunities and sustainable livelihoods for vulnerable populations. Additionally, S/He ensures quality delivery of activities within budget and set timeline.

    Key Responsibilities of the position

    Role/Mission

    • To work with the JRS program and M&E teams to prepare market monitoring tools and to understand the market and community dynamics within which the targeting and implementation of the livelihood interventions will be conducted.
    • Design, plan, and implement livelihoods projects in line with the JRS's goal.
    • Develop project work plans, terms of reference and budgets.
    • Work with JRS program and M&E teams to conduct assessments to identify the needs, skills, and resources of target populations.
    • Analyse market trends and opportunities for income-generating activities.
    • Facilitate workshop, provide training and capacity-building initiatives to enhance beneficiaries' skills and capabilities.
    • Establish and implement monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to regularly assess project progress and impact for livelihood projects and making necessary adjustments.
    • Identify and pursue funding opportunities to sustain livelihood projects.
    • Build and maintain relationships with local communities, government agencies, NGOs, and other stakeholders.
    • Supporting the development of training plans, training curricula, and training materials and making sure they are validated by the Project Director.
    • Support the development and promotion of income-generating activities.
    • To ensure the quality and efficiency of all Livelihoods intervention on the project.
    • Facilitate access to financial services and resources for beneficiaries.
    • Prepare and submit weekly, monthly reports on project activities, outcomes, and challenges.
    • Ensure compliance with reporting requirements of donors and partners.
    • Identify best practices and lessons learned.
    • Participating in the assessment of gaps and needs in the sector of intervention and exchanging information with the Project Director.
    • Facilitate community meetings, focus group discussion and other as required by the program.
    • Promote PSEA and safeguarding standards within JRS and amongst the beneficiaries it serves.
    • Engage with communities to understand their needs and preferences.
    • Promote community participation and ownership in livelihood initiatives.

    Required Profile

    Qualification

    • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree/ HND

    Experience and Skills

    • Have a bachelor’s qualification in social science, agriculture, economics and other related field.
    • Have at least 4 years’ experience in livelihood related programing  
    • Experience working in emergency settings (deep field), particularly in Northeast/Northwest Nigeria.
    • Must have strong English-writing and reporting skills
    • Must have good knowledge of the local languages preferably Hausa
    • Have good experience and knowledge in Microsoft Office.
    • Strong data management skills.
    • Good communication skills and ability to operate in challenging environments.
    • Ability to manage complaints from beneficiaries and other stakeholders.

    • Proficient command of the English language (written and oral).
    • Proven work experience in multicultural and stressful environments.
    • Trustworthiness, integrity and accountability.
    • Strong ability to work independently, organize work, meet deadlines, maintain composure, prioritize work under pressure, coordinate multiple tasks and maintain attention to details.
    • Ability to adapt to working conditions and tasks that may change with the reality of the field.
