Lead API & PHP Developer at Roaddo

Job Description

• We are seeking for an experienced Technical Lead API and PHP Developer to join the Roaddo talented dev team.
• The role of Technical Lead API & PHP Developer is of both a technical minded and a technical team leader – you should be just as happy debugging a memory leak as technically leading your colleagues.
• You will write top-quality code yourself, but also ensure you play an active role in supporting your colleagues.
• You will play an active role in team discussions on architecture and technology selection. And you will prioritise agile ways of working that allow us to ship early and often, bringing the best out of members of your team to contribute towards organisational goals.
• You should at all times be mindful of our Information Security obligations and commitments, and ensure that others are aware of them also.

Key Responsibilities

• Write ‘clean’ and SOLID, well-designed, code that is fit for purpose and easy for other team members to maintain.
• Debug reported issues quickly and effectively, solving the problem and suggesting opportunities for improvements
• Write unit and functional tests that demonstrate fitness-for-purpose and prevent regression
• Play a key role in Scrum planning sessions, daily stand-ups and sprint retrospectives
• Be mindful of impediments to your team’s progress, and either solve or flag these up to your manager without delay
• Use software tools carefully and effectively, including version control and ticketing systems, encouraging others to do the same
• Follow industry best-practices, especially with regards to testing and secure programming principles, and ensure that your team does the same
• Ask questions about specs, interrogate UIs and explore UX requirements before starting to code
• Fully uphold the company’s Information Security Policy, and treat customer data with the greatest care and respect. Flag any and all security concerns immediately
• Ensure that team members are on track and focussing on the most relevant task. Guide them if they need assistance
• Liaise with Product Manager to ascertain requirements/problems
• Liaise with customers/external stakeholders where appropriate
• Work to set and meet sprint goals, and flag up where goals cannot be met, including the reason why
• Represent the company on technical issues where appropriate

Experience, Attributes & Skills Sought

• At least four years’ relevant commercial work experience
• Methodical, focussed, patient, product-focussed code-lover with a pragmatic attitude and a people-first approach.
• PHP 7/8, Git, Drupal 7, Symphony, SOLID principles, jQuery, MySQL, REST APIs, basic AWS, Docker, Kubernetes
• Relevant computer science or engineering degree, or evidence of relevant professional training courses – Desirable
• Experience in a software company producing a rostering/time management product. Experience of an Agile development environment – Desirable
• Keen to share personal expertise with other members of the team and share learning
• React, Python, Terraform, advanced AWS.
