Accountant at Sagad Farms Limited

Reports to: General Manager

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

An Accountant shall be responsible for all financial transactions, from fixed payments and variable expenses to bank deposits and budgets. Duties include, but are not limited to, auditing financial documents and procedures, reconciling bank statements and calculating tax payments and returns. To be successful in this role, you should have previous experience with bookkeeping and a flair for spotting numerical mistakes. Ultimately, you will provide us with accurate quantitative information on financial position, liquidity and cash flows of our business, while ensuring we’re compliant with all tax regulations.

DETAILED LISTING OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work closely with other departments in the development and implementation of budgets.
• Play a lead role in the financial operations of the organization and ensure timely and accurate financial reports and practices including cash management, payroll, financial disbursements, etc.
• Play a lead role in entering financial information and maintaining all financial records.
• Monitor all expenditure to ensure compliance with approved budgets and due authorization process.
• Audit financial transactions and documents.
• Preparation of tax returns and other financial policies and regulations compliance requirements.
• Carry out financial forecasting and risk analysis.
• Advising all staff on cost effectiveness and reconcile accounts payable and receivable.
• Monitoring and ensuring compliance with all TAF policies (especially the Financial and Procurement policies) and all applicable financial laws and regulations, including the law of taxation.
• Analysing financial data to provide feedback that will assist in decision-making.
• Bank relationship management, maintaining database of bank account details and facilitating documentation requirements.
• Handle monthly, quarterly and annual closings.
• Manage balance sheets and profit/loss statements.
• Report on the company’s financial health and liquidity.
• Reinforce financial data confidentiality and conduct database backups when necessary.

Requirements for the position:

• BSc/HND in Accounting, Financial Management or related discipline
• 3 – 5 years relevant working experience as an Accountant
• Must be a chartered accountant or possess other similar professional qualification.
• Experience with general ledger functions.
• Knowledge of financial and non-financial data gathering and analytics.
• Mastery of accounting software, such as Tally and QuickBooks, OpenERP, Advanced MS Excel skills including Vlookups and pivot table, e.t.c.
• Financial reporting skill.
• Budgeting skill.
• Strong use of the English language (oral and written) and critical thinking skills.
• Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills.
