    Nutrition and Health Assistant

    Job Summary

    This position is based in Monguno, Borno State and directly supervised by the Nutrition Officer. The Nutrition and Health Assistant is responsible for supporting the implementation of Nutrition and Health activities to achieve the specific objective of the EU project which is to improve nutrition security of conflict affected populations through uptake of critical household health and hygiene behaviors with the aim of providing primary health care, water, livelihoods sources, sanitation and hygiene services.  

    Tasks and Responsibilities

    • Participate in monitoring and mapping out nutrition and health sector activities.
    • Collaborate with Nutrition and Health Officer  in conducting SMART/Rapid SMART surveys.
    • Work closely with M&E team in the supervision of data collection for Nutrition KAP surveys, Baseline and End line Surveys.
    • Monitor and supervise facility based nutrition and health service delivery.
    • Provide guidance and support to health workers for putting in place facility based screening, detection of acutely malnourished children.
    • Systematic capacity building of State Ministry of Health staff on health service delivery  including CMAM and Stabilization Centre management.
    • Develop training plan for health workers.
    • Provide guidance to health workers on appropriate stock management and reporting (LMIS)
    • Maintain and update database for health workers, community health workers/volunteers, including training details for assigned health facilities.
    • Assist in the organization of project workshop, trainings and seminars, including preparation of short reports.
    • Coordinate and collaborate with health workers for smooth implementation of the project activities and quality of service provision.

    Position Requirements

    •  Degree in medicine, nursing, midwifery, public health or Nutrition.
    • Minimum of one (1) years’ experience in primary health care program.
    • Excellent report-writing skills including Microsoft Office.
    • Fluent in written and spoken English and Hausa.
    • Good communication and Interpersonal skills
    • Team management experience with similar programs
    • Ability to provide quality feedback on the activities.
    • Willingness and capacity to be flexible and accommodating when faced with difficult and frustrating working conditions
    • Prepared to live and work in an uncertain security environment
    • Commitment to and understanding of Action Against Hunger aim, values and principles
